The yahoo user sends obnoxious mails with intent to defame my family. I would like to file a police complaint as I believe this would qualify as 'crime'. I can provide the Yahoo ID from where I receive these mails. I also have a hunch on the area & probably, even the person who is sending these. Does Yahoo! have any forum within the company which can help me ? Pls advise. Thank you for your time.

Ok, thanks to the guys who have already pitched in. Yes, there's a threat angle which is also mentioned. Does that change the picture ?

Keep whatever emails have been sent to you and block the user. If they keep sending emails via another email address, keep those emails too. You can always file a report but there probably won't be much of an investigation, if any at all, unless that person makes a credible, criminal threat against you or your family and you have reason to believe that they will carry out their threats. If that's the case, Yahoo will most likely only provide user information directly to law enforcement during the course of an investigation or by subpoena.

The police officer laughs heartily as he reads your complaint, then proceeds to sent off a copy of all complaint material in a general department memo, so that all his cop buddies can laugh at the misfortune of your dillemna. Nothing much is ever done since the culprit has not made this defamatory information public, and the most that ever results of your complaint, is a trip to the emergency room for Officer Joe; who had the misfortune of choking on a donut whilst reading your much mocked tale of woe. Three months later, the department sends you an email, advising you to block all emails from the offending sender.

Well I would see if yahoo can do anything about it, if not see if you can block the user and just ignore the person. Only real reason for having a case against the person is if they threatened your family or yourself.

There are some significant issues to have earlier filing, or contacting the officer's branch. Have the officer's call and badge form alongside with the precise time and site the position this mistreatment got here about besides as names of any those that were there to witness it. in case you do not have the officer's call and badge, the time and site alongside with a really certain description of the officer would suffice.

You have no case. By the way, you have the option to block that Yahoo ID.

Put his email addy on a BLOCK SENDER list... if you have a Yahoo account, classify the guy as SPAM. Problem solved.

Even though you prbably have a case, I doubt that Yahoo! would give any information about anyone but yourself. However, there is no harm in asking. . .just doubt.
