My best friend and i have been really close for about 3 years. He's always a had thing for me since we've met and just recently i've started to fall for him DEEPLY. We "hooked up" (just sweet kisses) and we both CARE/adore each other but we decided that it's not the best time to have a relationship in our lives right now. He said that he does want to be with me now b/c it's not the right time - that if we were to ever be together, it would be perfect - he wants a "serious, long lasting, and worthwhile" relationship with me someday and that's not now. Lately, he sometimes puts up a front - i have a strong feeling it's because he feels like sh** about the situation but sometimes he'll say/do certain things that confirms the fact that he does still like me. he'll call me a "dork" laugh, and say, "woow....you just make me laugh..." or hug me closer than usual - realize what he's doing and stop. Why does he still have to put up a front? Is he hurting more than me?

PS: we're in college and at a confusing time in our lives where school, work, financial situations stress us out in life. I think it would be hard to have a serious relationship at this moment...esp.

When he does that, you actually think of him more and even like him more. As you said... we are in same situation and it depend who appreciate each other more. In this case, he wants a relationship whereas you are not fearing that u will not give what u want or wish to give to him.. U feel u are not at ur best. He put up a front maybe to act tough.. it is like a see saw. the tough he seems, the weaker u feel.

Guys seem to think they have to be "manly" and not show emotions. He may like you but if the two of you are in college, just take this time to enjoy it, meet new people and maybe if it's right one day you 2 will end up together. But trust me having him as a friend is a lot better then losing him cause you acted on your feelings.. Experience speaks volumes.

Just enjoy being in college and having fun...don't rush into things. What is meant to be will be. Guys are confusing, and most the time don't know what they want till it's to late.

Why don't the pair of you stop hurting and get with each other? No point in waiting for the right time that may never come. Then it will always be a regret. You guys will work it out as you go along. Just remember to have fun in life. Don't hold back.
