My sons cat is stranded on an island on the Thames in Bedford,I have looked up the RSPCA'S website for rescue and they are all for the rehoming of animals, nothing for the actual rescue, The cat has been stranded there for 4 days now. We don't know who else to try

And for everyone who says that after 4 days you would have called them before now..........she has been MISSING for 4 days. In that time i have walked the whole neighbour hood 3times everyday, put posters up in everyshop in the area and posted missing flyers in 250 homes in the area. we only found out this morning that is where she is when a lady saw her in the undergrowth whilst walking her dog! and called the number on the flyer i posted through her door.

Can you borrow a boat to go out and get the cat? If the cat will not come to you, perhaps put a humane trap on the island with some food in it (you might be able to borrow one from the RSPCA), then go out that evening or the next day to retrieve it.

I'm sorry but I cant believe in 4 days you havent made more effort than this! I'm surprised the cat hasn't starved or drowned by now.

For God's sake RING the RSPCA - tell them you donate money to them, and demand that they rescue the poor animal! I would be very surprised if they won't help you - they don't just do re-homing! I also wouldnt blame them for taking the cat off you for not calling them, or someone else, sooner. I'd be in pieces if my cat was stranded for even an hour - I'd be frantically ringing any organisation I could think of!

try phoning your local RSPCA center, look in the yellow pages, i am sure they do do rescue. if not they will have a number of someone who can help you.
In the mean time can you get close enought to through some food to the island for the cat? maybe take the lid off small tins and through them in the tins, it will get to the food somehow.

really hope you find a solution asap.

Call the RSPCA - they have boats. Did you actually try calling them instead of just looking up their website? I'd have thought after 4 days you'd have picked up the telephone to someone.

The RSPCA can initiate the rescue of any animal that is in danger; even if this means calling the fire brigade etc.

I would really suggest calling them (and speaking to someone) as they will certainly give you helpful advice. They might suggest, however, that you contact your son's local fire brigade directly, but by all means call them.

Best of luck.

The RSPCA and cat's protection have a helpline and you should call it. If they can't help, they will give you the number of someone who can.

Otherwise call the fire brigade.

Call your local TV stations. These would be fun to watch on the 5 o clock evening news. They should drive enough attention to get people to help you out.
