Its not odd. Besides its probably the best thing you have done because you don't drain your money on the car with gas, repairs and other things. Its actually highly suggested to not haver a car until you have a good job that pays, than you can afford it more and you have less of a budget bind if something should happen.

PLus, invest in a bus pass or car pool. You Save $$$ for you to use and you live a more happy life.

cheers

That depends. If you don't own a vehicle, but you really want or need one, then it is a goal you need to fulfill to feel better, or live better, if you don't feel good about your situation. If a vehicle will contribute significantly to the quality of your life, then make it a point to get one. If you don't know how to feel about it, then don't worry about it, or what other people think of it for now. It's obviously not that important to you yet, or you would have done something about it by now. Don't let anyone pressure you into making it important if it's not. If you are without a vehicle by choice, and it is a consciencious decision you made, regardless of the inconveniences and hardships, because you are making a point about using mass transit, or you just don't want to contribute to any of the negative aspects of traffic congestion or pollution, then I salute you. I personally cannot function in the career I have without a vehicle. But on nice days, if I have the time, and I don't have to travel that day, I walk or bike to work, for my health and the health of the environment. It's only a mile and a half, but one does what one can. The important thing is that you are not making the mistake of using a vehicle as an extension of your personality, or as a way to attract people or make up for some perceived shortcoming. That's a lousy reason to own one. Ignore the negative comments about your social life. If you don't need a vehicle to be comfortable with yourself and who you are, then you are way ahead of the rest of the wannabees and posers out there. Walk on!

That is fantastic! If you don't need a car, why have one. Maintance, insurance, registration, parking fees, smog check, speeding tickets and the price of gas make owning a car very expensive. Look how much money you are saving! By not owning a car, you will be able to buy a home faster or globaly travel more or get your PhD or....

nah, its not odd.

If you have access to a well connected and good public transportation (like the public transportation in NY, Washington DC, SF etc...) then i dont see a need for a car. Besides, the oil prices are kind of high right now, so I see public transportation as a cheap, effective alternative way to get around the city.

In the Country? Yes, that's very odd. In the City? Not at all. I'm from NYC and I didn't even get my license until I was 24.

It's not typical, but it might be smarter than you think. Typically, most people are upside down on car payments, meaning they owe more than the vehicle is worth. That's a really bad situation to be in, but the finance companies love it.

If you don't need one, don't get one until you absolutely need one. If you don't need one every day, consider renting a car on the few occasions you need one. You get a brand new car (or close to it) each time you rent.

No, it also depends on where you live. Some cities are great and developed public transportation that works! I hate driving and wish I was in a city like NY, DC or Chi. I am in Atl and their public trans sucks!
