I want to be able to help people spiritually and say the correct things that will help them on their way. I just wanted to know if there is a way to analyze the external bodies communicative signals to understand how someone is feeling on the inside. I am trying to understand the spirit more than the psychology and I am kind of trying to get away from reading auras, but any information is good.

Only the Holy Spirit can tell you this without any harm to you. Familiar spirits can also do this but they are demonic and dangerous and will eventually turn on you.
It takes an extremely close walk with God to ever get to this wisdom. A life of prayer, fasting and staying in God's word could get you to where you want to be, but then you must be anointed of God. It takes great faith and a close walk to hear the Holy Spirit daily to where you can ask anything and it be given to you. Very few ever get what you are wanting. May the Lord Bless you and anoint you with this special gift.

Yes, body language is what you are thinking of. You might also try graphology, although obtaining samples may be difficult. Everything about a person points to their spiritual state, so analyse everything you can. Ultimately experience of life and experience of reading people are the best tells.
The best way of helping people is usually to act as a sounding board for them, deflecting the paths of their thoughts into more self-aware ones. Consider always that a small change now can enact a big change later, and so be careful of how you do this, as it can be a good or a bad thing you do. The trick is in being able to use spiritual awareness alongside logic and reason (not always easy as they don't often seem to correlate at first glance). This will lead you to see the most useful deflection points.
And never, ever, EVER judge people.

First off, if you really want to do this you have to learn to be open minded and tolerant of the spiritual belief of others. I would consider taking a class on communicating, active listening and possibly some psychology classes that include reading body language.
You will need to know when to open the subject of spirituality and when to quietly listen and hear "between the lines".
My own source, where I look first when someone VOLUNTARILY wants to discuss spirituality is in the eyes. Remember, you can encourage spiritual growth...but never push your own agenda onto others.

I generally us a Radio Shack Spiritometer GX-1. (It comes with batteries.) All you have to do is aim the soul-finder about a foot to the right of a right handed person and to the left of a left-handed person. (If the person is ambidextrous, try one, and then the other.)
Turn the religiosity-index to 100 & the set on-off toggle to "ON." In a minute or two, the readings should start to settle to the persons "average soul energy" - 50 is considered normal by most Shamans and exorcists.
If the readings stay above 90, call 1-800-THE-POPE and give him the good news. You have a potential saint before you.
If the readings never go above 10, run for your life! You're dealing with a demon!

Help them on their way toward what, exactly? It is possible to read body language for emotional cues, especially look into facial recognition training (a facet of psychology). However, if you were to try looking at MY internal spriritual condition, I would encourage you to mind your own business, in no uncertain terms. Why would you seek to invade people in such a manner?
