Personally I think it's hilarious and just as the article says, it's fun to watch Social Conservatives (mostly Christians) get tongue tied now that the sword of Damocles they used against gays is now coming full circle. Hypocrisy does seem to be the order of the day among conservatives, it will be fun to watch.

Oh yes, just so there is no doubt where I stand, I live in Canada, where marriage for homosexuals has been legal for 3+ years and guess what: People aren't marrying their pets, their siblings or their children, the sky is still blue and no natural disasters have befallen us, heterosexuals have not changed and married the same sex, churches are still allowed to marry as their faith commands and society is still here.

The truth of the matter is social conservatives want control, they want to dictate, they want to make everyone as they are, and they just can't stand it when others actually stand up to them.

It should be fun to watch, I'll get the popcorn, someone else bring the beer...........

Depends on your interpretation of the bible. Some are taking it too literally and narrowly. If the only reason for marriage is to produce children then you are also saying that those in their 60's and 70's and above are not allowed to get married. Doesn't make much sense to me...and the God i believe in isn't that mean and narrow minded.

You know what is TRULY sad about that? It started out as a proposed law, JUST to show how stupid it was (good idea)....but NOW people are actually backing it, and it may pass!!

Point, dont set up a law to make a stupid point for someone else, it could back fire!!

you don't have to produce children, as that command "be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth" was given to mankind as a whole. Also, infertility can be fixed in some cases medically, and in some cases Divinely. Or you could adopt.

God set rules for marriage. Why do people have such a problem with that?

God never said who could or could not marry. If the Christian god did, then let the christians follow their religion and leave everyone else alone. How hard would that be?

Actually God says is is better for you to not marry. Marriage is only to prevent you from commiting the sin of adultery because you're so big a sinner that you cannot resist sex.

marraige isnt just for childern, its the only source of childern, but it is to complete ur religion. it moves u away from all sorts of sins like adultary and it makes u more responsible.
its so that a wife can give her opinions to her husband, share her time and heart and vise versa. females and males are complimentary and thats why in islam , we say marriage is completing half of ur religion. because a half of the religion could not be fulfilled without a marriage partner and a family involved.

First of all, I'm personally not against a gay union. I feel that homosexuals should have equal rights. Having said that, I don't believe that God says marriage is only to produce children! Only Catholics believe that sex is just for pro-creation. I belong to the UCC (United Church of Christ) and we believe that God made sex pleasurable on purpose BUT it is to be only between a man and wife. It does say in the Bible that sex is to be between man and woman. It lists the "dont's" and man with man is listed alongside man with animal. I am a Christian. I didn't make the rules. This is what God set for us and He never claimed to expect us to live sin free..." NO ONE not NO ONE is free from sin!" People have to accept that being gay is, technically a sin. However, so is having sex before you're married, thinking about sex before you're married, thinking about having sex with ANOTHER person WHILE you're married....it's difficult, at best, to follow all of His rules. I don't judge people for their choices... which happens to be something I also got from the Bible :)

Fortunately, the laws of the United States are not dictated by your god.
