I dont really understand the point you are trying to make here. If you are as "fascinated" by the subject as you state, then it follows that you will have , at the very least, a vague understanding of what Sharia law is. Are there not a few Muslims in the US who have not also called for it? Do you seriously a believe that a few hundred ( at most) such people present a bona fide threat to the future of the US government?
There are religious extremists of all shades and opinions everywhere in the world, and certainly within your own country. Amongst Muslims here in the UK and also Europe, those who argue for Sharia law are a miniscule minority. Inevitably, they are given a disproportionate amount of media coverage because it is clearly a highly controversial subject and is therefore a good, juicy story which sell papers and causes uninformed reactions like some of those above. But if a mere one in a hundred thousand people are arguing for it, does it therefore make it a vitally important topic "for the freedom of us in the West" ? A religious nutter is a religious nutter, however he chooses to bellieve..it doesnt make his opinion any more valid. And doesn't freedom involve being able to say how you believe the world should be run, even if no-one else agrees with you?
There are extreme Christians in the US who strongly argue that creationism should be taught as an absolute scientific fact in American schools..is that any less bizarre or worrying for the rest of us?

It's law based on the 'teachings' of Islam.
And under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should it be acceptable to use Sharia law in the UK over English law, as some Muslim's have recently tried to do.
You want to live in England? YOU ABIDE BY ENGLISH LAW.
The same goes for every other religion/culture/nationality.
OR GO BACK TO YOUR OWN COUNTRY.

Sharia (Arabic: شريعة transliteration: Sharī‘ah) is the body of Islamic law. The term means "way" or "path"; it is the legal framework within which public and some private aspects of life are regulated for those living in a legal system based on Muslim principles of jurisprudence.
Sharia deals with many aspects of day-to-day life, including politics, economics, banking, business law, contract law, sexuality, and social issues. Some Islamic scholars accept Sharia as the body of precedent and legal theory established before the 19th century, while other scholars view Sharia as a changing body, and include Islamic legal theory from the contemporary period

It means living your life by the rules of someone's imaginary friend from 1000's of years ago, just like basing any laws on religion.
It's developed from a religion so that the church or whatever they call amuslim church, can exercise mass control over the population. Other examples of this kind of bullying come from the Roman Catholic church and many others.

That is Sharia law.

Wow! I've read most of the links that the other YA user (As_it_is) placed here. It was hard to fight back crying (I'm in the office). This is really disgusting and should be banned. This religion and its laws are dangerous and evil.

It is a law based on the teachings of the Islamic holy book, the Qur'an for those who do not know, and the laws laid down inside of it. It bases the punishments on the severity of how the were punished in the Qur'an, so at times it is quite arbitary and barbaric.
