Yes, the bible was written by primitive people who thought that the world was flat and that the star were lights hung on a curtain who had no knowledge of 90 per cent of the world.

No, i do not agree with you.through thousands of years the Bible has been the center of the moral standard of the civilized world. It has been a source book for much of our historical knowledge. It has been the spark which has prompted numerous scientific advances. It has improved the condition of every nation which has received it with the respect and honor it so richly deserves. Atheists through the centuries have scoffed, tyrants have threatened the Bible's utter destruction, yet they , like all of God's opponents have passed into oblivion and the Bible shines brighter today than ever before..but most important of all,it is "the Word of God"

Well, to the people stating that the Bible is still relevent today:
When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord - Lev.1:9. The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?
I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?
I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness - Lev.15:19- 24. The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.
Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?
I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?
A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination - Lev. 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this?
Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?
Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev. 19:27. How should they die?
I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?
My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev. 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? - Lev.24:10-16. Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)

Speaking of primitives,I myself don't believe in evolution, but Darwin may have had a point. Primitive brained dorks like you in the 21st century may, in a million years or so, actually begin to make sense.

There are some very good principals in the Bible. Especially the teachings of Christ. The Old Testament has people living in a culture that is very different than ours today, so some of their customs do not fit our day. However, the Old Testament is a rich source for those who are interested in the Jewish nations relationship with God and the foreshadowing of Christ. I doubt if you are not interested in God or Christ you would find much of the OT to your liking. It is rich to those who walk in fellowship with God.

Many Protestants have a bad habit of thinking they can just read and understand it completely without any background information on the era, the customs, the Jewish religion, etc. That is why they are constantly taking things out of context and misinterpreting the Bible.

Where do you get your information from???? The Bible is the word of God. It is everlasting, and does not go out of context. We just live in an age, where people dont like what it says. It was written to believers, not people who deny Christ. So if you dont know God, it will appear to be gibberish to you. At best, a parrable, if you are intended to get it at some point. The word of God, is not out of context, to those who possess the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. It is a powerful revelation. But first, one must have their eyes unveiled, by unity with Jesus Christ, who is united to God, and to us. God leads you to Jesus. Acceptance of Jesus, leads you to God. Ask anything in Jesus name, and Jesus will give it to you, if you are His. If you want to understand the Bible, then pray to God, He will be faithfull, if your intentions are to know Him. He looks at the heart, intentions of us. If you are reading the Bible to try to disprove Him, you will not get it. You will not get it, if He hasn't known you, because the word of God, is God, and if you dont know Him, you wont understand Him.

I live in the US, and I was raised as an athiest. So yes, for me and my lifestyle, the Bible or any other religious work in no way correlated or plays a role in my life. For people who make the choice to believe in something that does not exist, and to live their lives in an archiac way, then the Bible suits them well.

Not when you apply the basic principles which include being good to others, not judging, sharing with people, treating others as you would yourself. My favourite is that you reap what you sow, which is inclusive in all the philosophy of the world religions. Karma and getting back what you put into life. The world always must be in balance and that is not from two thousand years ago but part of the scientific age.

The Bible is out of context for those who are constrained by time, yes. God is eternal. You must believe in a different, more real reality before the Bible becomes real and relevant to you.
