Oh god no. Vista is awful. Seriously. I'm a software engineer who writes comercial software. I was tasked with evaluating our product on vista and I was NOT impressed. In a nutshell, it's XP with a bunch of crappy 'gadgets' you probably won't ever use. It requires many more resources (memory, proc power) and runs slower. Finally, see the famous Mac vs PC vista comercial. That Cancel or Allow crap is totally unrealistic and makes the experience awful.

I've got a new Vista system (Vista Home Premium ) That I'm using at work, Installed a Second Hard Drive to Install XP on.
The Good
All The Work Software That I Need still works (Most of this software is not available on Linux)
Added Security by being able to lock users down to only a few applications, and white list Web Control (I.E. They can only visit authorized sites)
The Bad
My Creative Nomad Jukebox Will not work, as Creative has stated that they Will Not Come out with Drivers of the older MP3 Players.

I am currently running XP Pro 2007, with Office Vista 2007 with SP3 upgrade, and I find it a completely different program to use from the old Office packages.
You feel as if you need to entirely re-learn it.
Instead of the old Toolbar on top with 'file', 'edit', etc., you now have various tabs, each containing a range of options. These allow me to use the whole gamut of function directly out of the tabs, without having to search for a function each time I need to use a particular feature on a rare basis. This is definitely time-saving when it is needed.
You can also still save in the old format to pass files onto friends, for the new format of file registration will not be recognised on older systems.
To answer your question, I cannot say that I am completely wowed by it, but I am not offended by it, and see no need to go back to the older operating systems.

The only diffrence i see currently is that there are cosmetic upgrades. I bought a windows vista laptop (home premium), and when i turned it on i was impressed, but now its just, ehhhh..... The security i supposed to be better, but i dont see that much a diffrence. The trouble im having is getting all of my apps to my new computer. A lot of them wont work with vista.

Yeah, I was wowed by how bad it was after all of the time and money that Microsoft invested into it.
I was also wowed by how people rush out to get something that severely limits and restricts their ability to have freedom to run whatever they want on their own PC.
Go figure!
Who appointed Microsoft as the DRM police anyway?
Twice convicted for monopolistic practices and now they are at it again.
You have to admit that if nothing else they are tenacious.

Most everything is copid from Mac OS X. I did not upgrade and I'm still fine. I also have a Mac for some of those creative jobs, and I like it more.
