Can you boil/steam artichokes in the microwave. When I'm home I love to do it, but I live in a dorm now. Any way to nuke them and not blow up anything?

Arrange artichokes in a microwaveable bowl. Add just enough water to cover the bottom of the bowl. Cover bowl with plate or microwaveable wrap.
Microwave on High just until tender, about 6 minutes. Cooking time will vary with the size of the artichokes and the power of your oven. Let stand for a minute or two to complete cooking. Baby artichokes are done when knife tip or skewer will go into the heart easily

Yes you can microwave an artichoke. You will want to wrap a paper towel around it so teh juices don't shoot all over the place. You should get a book on microwavable recipes.
