Not sure about "most", but I think that some do, yes. The kind that get caught on video beating up handcuffed people for example.

I think some cops are probably lusting for power or want corrupt connections. But most are just high school graduates who would like a stable job with the state that has reasonable benefits and pay and does not require too much post-highschool training. You can become a cop with just a year of police school here. The city benefits are pretty good. I have a friend who is a cop and will retire at 45. That's probably not the norm... Also many were in the military and some just want to help and think this is a way to do good by fighting crime...

What a weird question. Cops, judges, lawyers, government officials anyone in a "power of law" position would be "mentally wrong" according to you. A person managing a mini mart store could feel superior over others. Cops go through rigorous training, psychological evaluations and reviews in order to be fit enough to protect everyone. Even you.

Well, if they do, I'm thankful for it. I could never do what they do, and the city would be lost without them.
Whatever that "gumption" is, whether mental or not, the folks who have it are the ones with the backbone that have kept this country strong. I must confess, I only have that kind of "gumption" when I am playing "Mama Bear" to the kids I take care of.
I couldn't do it daily. And I don't know that I could not do it for people with attitudes like yours.
You can rant and slander all you want. When you call 911 for that burglar in your house, the cops'll be there for ya.

Many cops want to do something worthwhile with their life rather than just sit behind a desk and stare at a computer. Cops are along the same line as teachers, social workers and others who sole purpose in their job is to help make other people's lives better. Cops have one of the toughest jobs in the country and we should commend them for putting their lives on the line for the safety of millions of other people that they have never even met before. If it weren't for cops, think of all the dangerous people that would be roaming the street without anyone to protect us. I bet your job is not nearly as important of worthwhile as a cops job. Think twice before saying something like this again.

No. It sound like a great job.
1. Great benefits
2. Challenging career
3. Helping people in your community
4. Not doing the same thing every day
5. Being a part of a large family (fellow officers)
The only down side is, firemen get waved at with all five fingers as they drive by and cop only get one.

No. I am acquainted with several cops whom I have known since childhood. They all wanted to be cops because they wanted to HELP people and make things better for the community. Yes, there are bad cops but for the most part cops are good people who want to help others.

I think its pretty noble to want to help people, protect them, keep them safe. I dont think its a lust for power. I would be very proud if my kids went into law enforcement.
Im sure there are a few people out there that just want the power but I think its a very small number.

Not at all - I think it's more about protecting and serving. It's not like they don't go through a bazillion evaluations to even become a cop so one with a mental disorder woudln't be accepted. Besides, cops are HOT!!

No, although you sound like you do. You should be thankful that we have police to protect us and our love ones. They are more courageous than any other profession to risk their lives every day just to protect us. I hope you are either a child looking to get a rise out of people, or you are probably on drugs.
