I used to think my biggest sin was my immense sense of logic...now i can see that it is my biggest blessing. But i always had at least 1% doubt that God just might not exist...that is until i put my pride aside and just READ the last book of Revelations in the bible. You would have to be an idiot to not realize that everything that was predicted in Revelations (up to a certain point) has come true. I dont know exactly where we are RIGHT NOW in Revelations but i do know that alot of the events foretold are happening now or have happened. That alone has allowed me to 100% believe in God and Jesus.
I believe I am right and I have no desire to prove others wrong. I'm busy enough just trying to figure MYSELF out rather than changing everyone else. So far, everyone's reason for not* believing in God or Jesus hasn't held any ground. I want to hear what the Atheists have to say, this is your chance to win me to your side.
Begin...

By the way. I don't consider myself a christian, but if one were to categorize my spirituality they would pretty much say Christianity.
I claim the bible, Jesus, and God - no religion. In fact...what religion was Jesus? Religion was created by man therefore it falls under the law of flaws. I do not judge nor look down on any religion. I just merely had several disturbing experiences with the way people deal with religion.

What's amazing is that 90% of the replies are insults. I asked that you tell me your views so I can see where you're coming from so that I can further analyze my own choices.
A few specific replies I wanted to make:
Moiraes Fate --> I dont know where your reply came from but you obviously didn't read my entire post. Who is trying to force who? I remember asking you to enlighten ME...
Kathy P.W. - Last I checked...Nostradamus doesn't have his own bible. Whats with the smart remarks? How old are you guys...
Rick T - I dont know what you're basing your reply off of. I have no idea what you are talking about.
So pretty much in the end, I've proved another point. Some will get it, some wont.
Noteworthy: only one guy replied with intelligence and happened to be a christian...
I'm not here to insult nor offend anyone. I'm only seeking answers and building my understanding of others. I am not religious, I am spiritual...and yes there is a difference. Good luck to you all.

well, I am a Christian as well, and in one of my classes we asked our pastor about how everything in revelation seemed to be happening. he actually said that if you think back into history, things were much worse than they are now. (I'll have to ask him for some examples)
fyi, the book is called revelation.
by the way, do people realize that in the beginning, John states that you shouldn't take everything literally. revelation is full of symbols. a teacher of mine told me that you have no business in revelation until you have read all of the rest of the bible. reading everything else will really help it all come together in the end.
good luck and I hope you find the answers you are looking for!

You write:
>You would have to be an idiot to not realize that everything that
>was predicted in Revelations (up to a certain point) has come true.
An "idiot"? I think not.
>I dont know exactly where we are RIGHT NOW in Revelations
>but i do know that alot of the events foretold are happening now
> or have happened.
The same thing has been said of Nostradamus' predictions.. are you going to start worshipping him?
>So far, everyone's reason for not* believing in God or Jesus
>hasn't held any ground.
In your opinion. I am not an atheist; I believe in G-d, but not Jesus. According to my religious beliefs, G-d is (a) unchanging and (b) not a man. In addition, Jesus failed to fulfill a single messianic prophecy, so that takes him out of the "messiah race."
In any case, I am not trying to "win you to my side," as you put it. If belief in Jesus brings you spiritual joy, that's great, but, simply put: he's not for everyone.

The book of revelation was allegedly written by a man who had been tortured and exiled to live out his life in a prison camp on the island of Patmos.. this guy's alleged outer body experience is what you are taking so seriously.. have you ever read anything at all about people who've been tortured and imprisoned for any length of time?
What's written in there could have applied during any major crisis that the world has seen in the last 2000 years as well.. you can't possibly think this is a logical reason to believe, can you?

Faith defies logic. Science contradicts the Bible. It's as simple as that.
Believers convince themselves that the predictions in Revelation have come true. But even a broken clock is right at least twice a day. Most of us have READ the book of Revelation, and the rest of the Bible. If you have convinced yourself that all Atheists are idiots, you are seriously mistaken.
I don't want you on our side, we don't earn points for recruiting.

Believing in God SHOULD be a huge deal, even moreso to Christians than atheists. The idea that all the other religions are made up SHOULD matter to Christians in a way that makes them question their own religion, too. Religion is not what's best for individuals or humanity, though. Atheism is as important as moral progress is important.

I don't care what you want to believe, why should you care what I do or don't believe. I think it is a big deal when someone tries to force me to do something that I consider illogical, silly, or wrong. It would be like a bunch of 5 year olds trying to force you to admit that Santa Clause is real, that he really brings presents to 4 billion children in one night, and that his friend the Easter Bunny will punish you if you don't believe.

I don't think that Revelation is being proven true so much as people like to try to make reality fit into the predictions so that it seems true. As in people see what they want to see.
But if you are basing your faith purely by predictions coming true, Nostradamus has been pretty accurate. Is he god?

You see I disagree. Only an idiot would believe most of the bible and especially revelations. I saw it called the "buy bull" and that is so true.

The book of Revelations is the biggest conglomeration of nonsense ever written. I once tried reading it aloud while keeping a straight face. Impossible.

I predict in the next 500 years there will be another major war, another pandemic, a major earthquake. I also predict that there will be friction in a major country leading to civil war. I also see in the future humanity becoming too dependant on technology.
Vague predictions = success!
