Nope, should be identical, only difference is the price. You are supposed to be a student in order to purchase academic versions of software. When I went to St. Cloud State they had a computer store with discounted software, XP pro upgrade was only $100 vs. $200 retail, only catch was you had to show them your student ID.

If you acquired this software and are not currently a student you could potentially get in trouble, but the only way thats going to happen is if your friends call Microsoft and bust you. Even then I don't think they would care unless you are buying thousands of copy's of the academic version and selling them on eBay.

As a general rule, MS academic versions are no different than full version. They are merely marked that way to offer a price break to students and faculty members.

No that is the full version for students only and they get the discount price.
