Did anyone ever have an ear infection? Can you please tell me the signs of an ear infection and how long it takes to treat it and with what? Would you know any home remedies?

I have suffered with ear infections all my life for some reason every fall i get a really bad ear infection to the point where i wake up with blood on my pillow..anyways an ear infection is very very painfull and you need to see a doctor to get antibiotics to take care of it..there are home remedies you can use to help with the pain till you can see a doctor .take a hairblower and put it on low heat and blow warm air into the ear..or get some mineral oil and warm it up a bit and put a few drops..also you can get polysporin drops for eyes and ears..works very well but in the end you need antibiotics to treat an ear infection or you may end up with permanent damage.

I grew up with ear infections. They ranged from just an ache to blood on my pillow. Old home remedy is warmed sweet oil and placing one to two drops in ear to ease the pain. Or a very smelly and unpleasant method, is to have someone blow cigarette smoke in to your ear, the nicotine for some reason numbs the pain for a short time. But I would think that in the end it would only cause the infection to get worse. Only way to eliminate the infection is to be on an antibiotic. Usually one round of antibiotic will work, depending on the antibiotic it could be 3-10 days of medication.

My symptoms were 1- ear ache, 2- warmth of ear to the touch, 3- slightly elevated temp., and 4- if the ear infection was bad, blood on my pillow.

Hope this helps.

Trust i would be a person to tell you about ear infection. I had few before to include when i was about 10 y o. It was the worse pain i ever experienced. My ear was hurting so bad i got knocked out because of it. It is by far worse then tooth ache and usually those are counted to be pretty bad. My mother had to call house doc to come in asap. She gave me these ear drops and whatever it was it released me from killing pain instantly. If you have an ear ache that is getting worse and worse that means you need to get looked at instantly. When i got looked at by ear eye and throat doctor (i guess that how they call them, because they certify in all three areas) next day they took a regular needle and popped something in my ear. It was even more painful and got done without any pain medicine. It took only a sec but main thing about the procedure was that you cant move when they do it because if they pop wrong thing you can become deaf. But a good doc knows what they doing so no worries. Just make sure if its cold outside you put on a hat to cover your ears, because thats how i got sick. It was early spring and i was like all kids couldnt wait for summer so i was running around half dressed and my mom kept trippin about it until i understood what she had to say. Good luck!

lol, I had like 5 ear infections when I was a kid....I think one of the signs to one of them, would be when you put your head on.....say ... a pillow, that it hurts really bad, and it hurts to lay on that ear..if it's like an earring hole infection...well i've never had one of those before, ive only had an inner ear infection (if you know what I mean) I don't think there are any home remedies for ear infections...just go to the doctors, and they subscribe some good tasting medicine...lol...and it should go away within a matter of days, but don't go without seeing a doctor about this, or else it could get worse.

There are different types of ear infections, all of which are annoyingly painful....there's swimmer's ear, otitis media (middle ear infection). You can wait a couple of days to see if it starts to feel better (take some acetaminophen for any pain) - if it feels the same or worse or you get a fever over 100.4, go to the doctor. They can prescribe antibiotics to clear it up.

Feel better
