Having had personal experience with eating disorders and knowing others who abused laxatives long-term, I can tell you a thing or two. First, taking laxatives will help you to FEEL thinner initially. However, it throws your body's electrolyte system so out of wack and dehydrates you so extremely that your body will eventually compensate by putting on large amounts of water weight. Your face will look especially puffy. Also, since it helps dehydrate you, not burn the calories you've eaten, it gives a false sense of having lost weight and eventually the body gains a whole lot of weight at once when the calories are absorbed. I knew a woman who abused laxatives and eventually had her colon removed. She had to walk around with one of those baggie-things under her clothing. Made it hard for her to put on her wedding dress, I recall. It's really one of the most abusive things you can do to your body. Alot of people who give up laxative abuse still don't have normal, regular bowel movements, even after years of not taking them....

Yes it really helps in losing weight, but IT IS NOT GOOD FOR YOUR BODY! Don't do it. Get a good exercise routine, along with a descent diet....you don't have to scrutinize everything you eat, just be conscious of what you eat. I would highly recommend staying away from the use of laxatives to lose weight. Try exercise, a sensible diet, and drink a lot of water...that will help your body get rid of excess weight. Or mix in about 30 minutes to an hour of cardio a couple of times a week.

Laxatives are made to reduce water weight and help you poop. If you continually use them you could seriously dehydrate your body. Since our bodies are mostly water, we need some in our system. Using them when you need them helps get rid of bloating and the uncomfortable feeling that occurs with it. When you stop taking them as directed, the water that should stay in, goes out and you get really sick. It's not healthy, it's dangerous, and all in all, you'd end up feeling worse

Over -using laxatives can fatally dehydrate you, cause a heart attack, and irreparably cause damage to your body organs. DO NOT use them as a weight loss tool under any circumstances.
