What can I do to imporve my spanish, what shows to watch, music to listen too etc. Should I study for it everyday? Any tips on what to do to survive my final semester of spanish.

I'm knocking spanish or anything, it an exteremely use language, that is used world wide. But I just don't think its for me, I'm rather do sign lanugage or japanese.

Anyway any tips on what to do?

Hmm. You should have a spanish channel, most cable packages include at least one. Spanish soap operas and game shows are the best - they're so dramatic and silly. Put the caption on if you can, so you can get used to hearing what the words sound like when spoken by a fluent speaker.

As for movies, there's one out now called Pan's Labyrinth which is in Spanish with English subtitles. Might be good to watch it so you can get used to translating in your head, and I've noticed that I pick up on sentence structure much easier when it's in a movie rather than a book example.

Music.. there's always "Caress me down" by Sublime ;-) Or there are many pop groups available that have Spanish albums, like Shakira. She's not my personal favorite but her older albums aren't terrible. Check out websites for the Latin Music Awards to see who's being nominated and download/buy something by some of those artists.

Good luck!

Te recomiendo que escuches música en castellano. Algunos grupos y solistas argentinos:
Andrés Calamaro
Diego Torres
Los Tipitos
you can download both the songs and the lyrics, so you can read as you listen, therefore matching sound and letters.
Oh, I've written the introduction in Spanish: it goes:
I recommend that you listen to music in Spanish: Some Argentinian groups:...
You can also try Alejandro Sanz (Spanish)
Juan Luis Guerra (Central American) ( I don't remember which country)

take somethin else. its pointless to take something u dont like let alone the waste of money. college is not cheap! sure spanish is useful and it would be an advantage for u to be fluent in it but if its not for u then switch. try somethin new. if u feel like it was a mistake droppin it just simply take it again and try to meet in groups with ur peers to study, pratice speaking it and writtin it more often. that REALLY helps. good luck

I found that spanish music and channels helped me alot. I was able to hear it spoken in a native toungue. You can also try speaking spanish to someone. Of course they would need to know it also. You can also get books from the library that are written in spanish. Have fun and dont make it a chore. Having fun with it will help alot.
