Cats are sensitive to the hard "k" sound (like crack), "t", "sh" or "ch" (which sounds like a cat hissing). Names that start with "m" (minou, muffin), "b" (belle, beau, buddy) are great. "F" names also seem to upset some cats.
When you name your cat, it should be a positive name, that sounds nice, feels good to say and is complimentary. The name you choose says as much about you as it does about your cat. It shows how you view your cat and your relationship with it. Some names can cause people to judge a cat and react positively or negatively/fearfully when meeting it. For these reasons it is important to use a name that conveys the proper, positive image.
Some of my cats' names over the years have been: Mouse, Merlin, Belle, Fluffy, Adam, Buddy, Mimi, Minou, Ryan, Ebony, Honey and Sonny (brother and sister).
Hope that helps.

Boy: Tucker, Toby, Jake
Girl: Princess, Baby, Miss Meow
Boy/Girl: Mittens, Fluff (I think it's a little more feminine), Patches, Smokey, Oreo, Paws, Ginger
Most of this depends on the color of the cat's fur, too. I think if you get a boy you should DEFINITELY go with Tucker, I love that name for a cat!!!

Well it also depends if it's a male or a female. I suggest getting the cat before you name so you can go on it's personality or what name it responds to. Oreo, coco, and nemo are just some of my favorites.

My cats are named Thor and Puck. Thor is the Norse god of thunder, and Thor is grey with black markings. Puck is a character from Shakespeare's A Midsummer Nights Dream that was always causing trouble, and so does my Puck.

for the first few days, watch the kitten and see how it moves, behaves, reacts, etc... sometimes when you do this a name will come to you. with our first feline baby, my husband and i each wrote down 7 names, looked at the list, we were gonig to pick out 2 and then choose from that, when we looked over at the kitten who was intently swatting at shoe laces. her name was lacey.
you could also name after favorite musician, actor, food, the color of the kitten. sometimes it is easier deciding other things than a name

You can name a cat anything you like. What I've found works best for me is to get the kitty, have it for a week or so, then letting it name itself with its personality. That's how I got my kitty's name, Kisses. :o)

my grandma's cat is named Sweet Kitty. her old cat was named Prissy. And you always could go with the classic Princess or Tiger.
