You are not going to solve it without hurting anyone. You have to let your girlfriend know how you feel. You will only end up hurting her and yourself if you go into a civil union when you do not have the same feelings for her. Then you will also have legal issues to deal with if you decide to end the union. I know this will not be easy but it is what you need to do.

If you are seeing someone else, then a civil union is out of the question. You have to break it off with her so she can find someone else to love that will love her. it will be painful, but what's done is done. If you don't love and respect her enough to stay committed to her, she deserves the chance to find that with someone else. You also deserve to be in a guilt free relationship. Ending it would be the best thing for everyone involved.

Its impossible not to hurt someone in this situation, especially your gf for 3 years. you can hurt her less by telling her the truth and explaining you side rather than her knowing from somebody else. Tell her what happened, how you come to got bored of the relationship or how you have directed your eyes to someone else. Just dont give her reasons that would seem like everything went wrong with her. Give her the truth, she'll appreciate it somehow..

Rough situation, either way someone will be hurt. Really don't think you can enter into a civil union with someone you didn't care enough for to not cheat on. Sorry, i don't want to sound mean, but think about it that way....

Tell your old love interest that you want to break up because you want to see new people. Have the courage and respect to be honest, communicate until she knows you are serious, and stick to your gut.
Take it from me, I'd rather be in an alley with two broken legs than be in a false relationship.
Also, if you can, try to keep her and your new love interest totally separate. People aren't meant to be compared to each other.
If you gave us more information on the circumstances, it would help us give a better answer.

Without hurting anybody? Keep dreaming mate.
Do it now and do it quickly; you think it'll be painful now? Just wait until it's closer to the wedding date and see what happens.
As a favour to everyone; keep the fact that you're seeing someone else to yourself for now; just tell her that you're not interested in continuing the relationship any further because you don't see it going anywhere.

suffice to say, you can't solve this without hurting someone. if you found someone else leave your girlfriend to get on with her life, it'll hurt her more in the long run if you lead her on and continue cheating. it'll be hard after three years, but bite the bullet and tell her you dont feel the same anymore.
i hope it all turns out for the best hun, good luck and remember honesty is always the best policy. xx

You should of break up with her since you started seeing someone else. Just come clean and tell her how you. a break up will always hurt. Don't tell her you just want to be friends, I don't think anyone buys that line anymore, it's just a slap in the face.

Tell her that her saying that makes you realize that she's more serious about the relationship than you are and that you either a. need more time or b. can't see her anymore. I would go with b. Since you are seeing someone else, you're not really that devoted to her and you should let her go gently.

hmmm...i might tell her, but i am not sure that you could avoid hurting her...you could maybe at first explain that you arent ready to have a civil union, and in a while, when she has more or less accepted that, tell her that you dont want to see her anymore..
i dont think that you can leave anyone who loves you still without hurting them..and you a little you know?
