It's illegal. That's that. If they want to be up here, then they should be citizens. Although, my fiance's father cannot get citizenship because he had a couple DUI's and has been in a bit of other trouble. There are many US Citizens who have committed the same offences as my fiance's father. He is married to a US citzen, and all his children are US Citizens, yet he cannot be. I think it is stupid that it is so difficult to become a US Citizen. If all the illegal immigrants living here were Citizens, they would be required to pay income taxes, instead of working under the table and avoiding them. Aren't we complaining about our nation's debt and aren't we just getting into more debt with this stupid war going on that we don't belong in. I say we let them stay and make them pay taxes like the rest of us.

Illegal immigration is primarily a national security issue. Regardless of how anyone feels about immigrants (legal or not), our border is not properly secured. The mass migration of people crossing the border into the U.S. illegally is proof of a vulnerable state.

Imagine we decide we want to allow every single person wishing to migrate into this country a free pass as long as they are not a terrorist. We cannot support this amount of people all at once, but we will consider the situation for the sake of arguement. We cannot assure that terrorists are not entering the country unless the borders are secure and immigration is regulated. There's no way around it.

The next biggest part of the illegal immigration issue is the economy. We claim to have a higher demand for work than our current population can provide. Oddly enough, we have unemployment issues as well. How is it that we have citizens who need jobs and jobs at the same time we cannot fill with these citizens? Obviously someone is not putting together the pieces of the puzzle.

In addition, our undocumented workers are not paying the same percentage of taxes as our legal citizens. The government-provided services (health care, public education, etc.) are being given to illegal immigrants at little to no cost, leaving the majority of the burden on the shoulders of the citizens.

Other areas currently being affected by illegal immigration include but are not limited to crime and disease. Unregulated immigration allows criminals to enter the U.S. and put the safety of Americans at risk. Unregulated immigration also allows persons infected with dangerous diseases to enter the U.S. without proper immunization, therefore risking the spread of disease to the American people.

1) We need to secure the border for the sake of safety.

2) We need to stop giving jobs to undocumented workers when the same jobs could be done by the unemployed.

3) We need to regulate immigration to protect ourselves from danger and unnecessary spending.

4) We need to stop blaming the illegal immigrants for this problem and instead focus our energy on enforcing a workable solution.

Time for me to sound off on all of these idiots who say "we're a country of immigrants", let them stay. Or we should re-think our immigration laws. No. In comparison to other first world nations, we're a joke. Let me tell you how they do things in Germany, where I'm staying. First of all, you have to take a german language test. No, german, no visa. PERIOD. Second, you have to take a test to see if you share german cultural values. So, if you're an arab, and you believe women should not be allowed to go out at night alone, you probably won't get citizenship. Third, you need to pass a constitution test. FOURTHLY, the german internal minister has repeatedly said that illegals have nothing coming and will be deported.

How do they enforce their laws. They have something called the data protection bureau. It protects all private data for citizens, but most importantly, foreigners must register their resisdency with the bureau. Upon registration, you get a confirmation which you need to do everything from open a bank account to renting an appartment, to getting internet service. You especially need a confirmation for employment purposes (as well as a bank account because all money is direct deposited. In short, you cannot live in germany for more than 6 months without being legal. So, lets make life a living hell for everyone who's here illegally. Lets make it impossible for people to buy or sell anything without being legal. Then they will keep their stupid, illiterate asses home.

How do I know this is how it works? I work in Germany. Oh yeah, germans aren't afraid to be choosy about who gets a visa. Americans can get one easy, but if you're from a 3rd world shithole, good luck. We should do the same. Screw the poor illiterate bastards who want to rape the west for its resources. They're poor because they're uneducated, and keep breeding in mass numbers. Foreigners OUT!

We are the third most populated country in the world. Just within the last few months we passed the 300,000,000 people threshold. I take a look at countries like India and China and notice that they have way too many problems due to overpopulation. It seems evident that we are the next country to share China's fate as a world power who has a large population of people who are starving. We are already beginning to experience the problems of overpopulation in not just in major cities where poor conditions results in gang violence, but also in the air we breath. As anyone ever been to L.A.? The smog there is unbearable! And as a result of overpopulation, we are destroying the environment all over the world! So what is my opinion on illegal immigration? We should round them all up and throw them back into their respective countries. We've been the nice guy when it comes to immigration for too long and now we are suffering the consiquences. We must close all our borders quickly before we lose our world power status due to our population problems and become the next India (which has too many problems to recover and is likely to remain a third world country indefinately).

The thing is that most people immigrate because conditions in their country
are bad. I therefore don't blame them for wanting to come to the USA. Some
say that letting more people immigrate legally will strain our resources too
much, but they're already strained far more feeding the egos of our wealthy
elite and politicians who want every self-indulgence imaginable. That money
should be spent on giving the people something better than their home
country, and if their country is poor, some of that should be given to it in ways
that may make it better.

Is it controversial? Depends on who you talk to. Some people might think so,
others may not.

Illegal immigration is a concern, not because of the individuals, but because we are completely unable to enforce our immigration laws. It is wrong for someone to enter the country on false pretenses. However, we are a country of immigrants and may need to reconsider our immigration laws.

I'm sick and tired of those damn mexicans stealing jobs from hardworking CEOs, doctors and engineers. They should run their multinational corporations in their own damn country.

US companies "outsourcing" jobs to other countries is a much bigger threat to the average American than illegal immigrants. Sadly, the argument is mostly based on racism, no matter what "facts" people try to put forth.

Illegal immigration is a very very controversial subject. And the answer to this subject is acutally very simple. This country was designed to be the ultimate place of freedom and equality, all of our ancestors (minus the Native Americans of course) are immigrants to this country. But, when my ancestors came here fleeing a certin little man in mid1930's germany, they did not have to pay the exorberant fees that lawyers are now charging to obtain citizenship. Now, we cant take everyone in, Im sorry it sucks but thats how it is, there is only a finite number of resources in this country, and since we lied cheated and stole our way to owning most of this land, the least we could do is live up to what we said we would. Eliminate lawyers from the system and it will improve dramatically, make it a standard 50$ american to buy citizenship, but, this is with the understanding that once you get your citizenship, YOU ARE NO LONGER A MEMBER OF YOUR PREVIOUS COUNTRY. Most of the anger tied with this subject is because (and I am only using this particualr nationality because it is the most vocal and the largest minority right now) lets take a Mexican family for instance. They come to this country illegally, the dad, who is just an honest worker goes out every day and does jobs that not only are most of us incapable of physically doing, but that we are unwilling to do because of low wages. The parents work very very hard to make a life for themselves here, because they got told at the immigration office that there application would take at least seven years to process then it goes into a lottery style system, which could take who knows how long to process, if they higher a lawyer to plead their case, its going to cost them 15'000 minimum, which if they had, they woudlnt have left Mexico in the first place, so they come illegally, while here, they live in pretty bad conditons, thats if the coyote doesnt just sell them into slavery, and if they survive crossing the dessert, then there is that initial hostility to them because they are different (the Irish side of my family went through the same type of hate and discrimination when they came over), so the child grows up hating the counrty he feels betrayed by, the parents wind up resenting that the land of oppertunity isnt what they were told it was, in the mean time because we offer so many free programs they take advantage of them, but these programs werent designed to handle so many people taking advantage of them like health care. So these conditons even make a bigger wedge between citizens and non-citizens. Top that with the fact that so many mexicans claim that they hate this country, and fly Mexicos flag insteand of the U.S.'s, and there you go. We have to take these people in, we have to find a way, but they also need to help us in this process. The answer like I said is simple, we need to ensure they are really loyal to our country, and in return, we need to ensure that our country is loyal to them.

Breaking the law, any law, is wrong, no matter how you color it. Do things the legal way, or not at all. Illegal is illegal. Yes feelings run very deep on this.

There should be nothing controversial about it. Illegal is illegal. Arrest, conviction, deportation. Nothing against immigration, just do it legally.
