izz - BINGO!
You are dead-on, girl!

That is the BIGGEST problem with people who are trying to lose weight.
Many of them are fooled into thinking that there is a magic pill or a fade diet that will cure all their weight issues.

A person has to work off those calories.

There is NO easy way to do it.

And you are 100% correct:
exercise and eat a healthy well-balanced diet (lean protein, fresh vegetables) and cut the sugar, carbonated beverages, etc.

Well, frankly, not all dieting is starving yourself. Matter of fact, by dieting, obese people can lose the necessary weight that put their lives into danger. People diet because the media has a certain look out their for bodies, "SKINNY." I agree with you though, exercising and eating healthy will end all of the dieting that people put themselves through. Having a diet that you use everyday, eating healthy and exercising, is less of a strain than having to diet every so often to fit into those "SKINNY" jeans.

Exercising, eating healthy and not starving IS a diet.

Eating a well balanced diet and getting consistant exercise was how I lost the weight, but the POINT was to live a healthier lifestyle and live longer.

Dieting is Bullshit in my opinion!!

Eat healthy - cut out junk food, fry up's, take aways etc. ,and plenty of exercise, and you WILL lose weight. I'm living proof! To make it easier, do it with friends or colleagues, as a group. Exercise in a form that is convenient + comfortable for you- maybe get up 30 mins earlier and walk the bus ride to work and back again, and then a swim on Fridays? Don't eat after 8pm,( the metabolism slows down after this time, preparing for the night, and will convert most of food eaten to fat) and get decent night's sleep, it makes a BIG difference! Maybe, if you hit your target weight loss for the week, reward yourself, a chocolate and a movie perhaps? DO NOT, REPEAT DO NOT starve yourself!!!! ts doesn't fluck all for losing weight, your metabolism converts food eaten after a hunger strike directly to fat as a fail-safe, and your body lose vital nutrient intake. And don't expect to be toned and fit in days, stick at it, and it'll reward you big time!

not all people that diet are people that starve themselves. some people hope to just be healthier as they get older, or for the long run. like im sorta a mini diet, and im like 5 feet tall and 78 pounds. im on it, cuz i usually eat pizza and fries every day at lunch and my diet is to not eat as much junk and greasy foods, and just to eat like a salad or something, cuz it was making break out, and get cold sores since i wasnt really getting enough nutrition. i think thats kinda considered a diet. but not all ppl diet to lose weight. some of it may contribute to a healthier body, but only desperate amateurs would starve themselves. dieting can be good, it can help you get healthy for the future when your all old and yeah.... something like that

Some people have a problem with their weight and so they diet.
I eat a lot of Veggies and Fruits - walk 2 miles a day with my dog and still have a weight problem. I drink lots of water and Green Tea Drinks.
We are not all as lucky as you skinny B-----H are. We have to work at it.
So you think anything you want. There are people that need help both Mentally, Physically, & Emotionaly. Why don't you go help those people instead of complaining about other peoples diets.

Not all dieting is starving yourself - that's something else.

Dieting is reducing your intake of unhealthy foods with the aim of losing weight. I've lost more than 2.5 stone in the last 6 months and have never felt I was starving myself.

Many reasons for dieting, some are good and some are not. If you eat the recommended allowance of fruits/veggies and water each day and get exercise and rest, dieting is not necessary. So your question is more of a statement.

I might be tempted to wonder if you are above your ideal weight?

I think to increase your odds on getting it right you have to do both. I speak as a rather horizontally challenged person! We are what we eat and very much what we don't do. I do 7 1/2 hours of vigorous exercises a week which burns off about 7,500 calories, unfortunately it gives me about an extra 7,500 calories of appetite to keep up my strength to do the exercise! Ah well!
