What truly frightens me is that people with such a tenuous hold on reality can be in a position to write laws affecting everybody on the planet!

Having said that, it angers me to see how we ARE led by foolish writings of control freaks - Men, I might add - who used what they could at a very supersticious time in the world's history to overpower people with fear.
Everything in the christian bible can be torn apart.
I actually did a poll on my blog about this, asking if people thought the bible was completely correct - which got NO votes,
a book of myth used to teach people right from wrong - one vote,
complete lies and a tool of oppression - a large amount of votes,
and some historical significance but people have taken it too literally - most votes.
The suprising part about that are all the self-proclaimed die-hard Christians who voted.
Hmmmmm.... Says a lot, doesn't it? Gives me a little hope that people are coming around to finding their way out of the stone age.
Now, you really should rethink the soul thing. The spirit does exist though has nothing to do with a "heaven" or "hell".

No but it makes me despair when I hear rejection of God based on ignorance and arrogance and condescension based on pride.
God has revealed himself to us through prayer and miracles. Many people throughout history have experienced God do some great things and that is what the Bible is for, testimony. Yet all people like you do is faithlessly mock it and that is truly a tragedy.
God can start working in our life as well and you can be saved but you have to have faith and give your pride a rest!

You know faith is easy. It means you have forgiveness for mistakes you make in life. Without faith, you become responsible for all your decisions in life and where those decisions will lead you into eternity. I was just like you once but have come to the realization that we all didn't just happen to be here, that we didn't just ooze out of the slime and become who we are. We were created in the wonderful image of a Supreme Being (God) to inhabit this earth for a limited number of years and then spend eternity in heaven or hell. I, for one, choose heaven, even though I, like you, am a sinner, I have accepted forgiveness for my sins past, present and those that I will make in the future. Remember if I am right, you have a choice to make. If I am wrong then so what. Romans 6:23 say the "For the wages of sin is death (Hell), but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Bet you pray your right. No wait, bet you don't pray. But I will for you.

I have no problem with what other people believe. The only problem I have with any of it is when some want to force their beliefs on others.

No, I despair in the obvious general attitude that people have that my CONSTITUTIONAL right to believe in those things, and talk about it, should be ignored.
And that's truly embarrassing, to live in a country who guarantees my freedom to believe, and speak about it, but have countrymen who forget that.
