John 8:44 - Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
1 John 2:22 - Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
The lie satan told to Eve in the Garden of Eden.
Genesis 3:4 - And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

Not satan so much as false ideas about God
It was the religious leaders who he said were following the lie, so I think many today also are telling lies about God, I think who the lie is is less important than the ones Jesus said were telling lies and they are up there on the pulpit. The key is grace, any preacher who talks about grace is on the right lines, the ones who speak like only they can connect you with God are the liars

Satan if the father of all lies, father of liars. He 'earned' this name, among others, because while Jesus was in the desert for 40 days prior to His arrrest and crucifixion, Satan visited Him 3 times. Each time, Satan promised Jesus all the lands and such if He would bow down before Satan. Jesus knew who he was and knew he was lying because everything belongs to God, thus Satan would never be able to hand things over, it wasn't in Satan's hand to begin with.

Satan is the father of lies.
He got this name when he mixed God's words up to trick Adam and Eve into eating the fruit.

Actually it was Lucifer, before He was known as Satan (the adversary)! Jesus was referring to his lies that 'Lucifer' told the fallen angels that believed him, that they could be greater then God, and that only he should be worshipped, and that he would ascend higher then the throne of God, and many other blasphemous lies. He told these terrible lies many millenia before he lied to Eve and then Adam in the Garden of Eden, when by then he was known as Satan!

Satan. He is a master at twisting words, especially God's. He takes all of God's wonderful creations and counterfeits them.
