the wearing of ankle weights beyond use when stretching is discouraged. by placing an additional "load" in a unnatural location (ankle) there can be an increased risk of stress fractures in the lower leg along with an increased muscle imbalance in the upper thigh. only the quadriceps will benefit from the increased load causing a great imbalance of strength of the quadriceps to hamstring.

for a person that is untrained (new to resistance training) the use of hand weights is also discouraged. I would have at least several months of structured resistance training before adding weights to the arms and would only use them when walking not when running.

I was wanting to do that as well but I was told it was a bad idea. Reason being is that when your running you don't concentrate much on the positioning of your arms and with the wrist weights it can put strain on the joints. Your doing yourself a favour by jogging without the weights. Keep up the good work.

I don't know if they hurt, but they don't help that much, and they do increase the stress on the joints. When I ran cross country in HS the coach had us run with backpacks with weight in them, because we were faster when the weight was removed, or so he thought. I admit I felt faster. But this was significant (10-15 pounds) weight, and I'm not sure how I'll be paying for it in the future. I would skip it.

dont start jogging everyday if youve not jogged before. you will injure your lowerlegg muscles. youll need to build up and make your body get used to jogging.

start with 15 minutes 3 days per week. and build up to 1 hour 3 times a week over 5 weeks, then start with 7 days a week.

using legweights does make the jog more intensive. i wouldnt start using them right away since this might overexcert your muscles aswell.

You shouldn't wear them on your ankles, that could strain your muscles and joints in your legs. Definately wear them on your wrists. It'll give you an added work out to your upper body.

Please what ever you do, do no longer strap weights to your self at the same time as operating. i assume you'd be operating in public and by no potential something will reason you to be resented more desirable than doing something that pretentious. the purely those who must have weights strapped to them at the same time as operating or walking are women those who've merely had toddlers or the elderly. carry out somewhat weight preparation at homestead or at a gymnasium and once you bypass operating, merely bypass operating and strap as low as conceivable to your self because each little thing you position on your body throws the organic stability off only somewhat. you'll probable finally end up putting undo and unnatural stress on certain parts of your body.
