What's the best beach on the gulf side of FL?

We plan to go and can't decide where to stay. We want a nice tropical beach with that really blue/green water on the gulf side.

What beach is teeh best? We want to stay on it but also not be hours from disney.

Try Sanibel or Captiva Islands. The shell collecting is wonderful, and once when we were there, there were small "fighting" conches in the water - you could grab them with your toes and pull them up to the surface.
