If religion is personal and only concerns your own soul, why do the major religions require "forced" conversions of others? In fact, as religions become more powerful in the world, they become less God related and more political. Are they becoming corrupt at that point?

Surveys show that atheists are the least trusted people in USA even over muslims. If you don't believe (preferably in their religion) then you are evil, unless you convert.
Conversions are not physically forced but rather social pressure is applied, sometimes very strongly.
If I make an informed decision not to have religion, why should others care??? BUT THEY DO. See the extra long post below.
PS, thanks for your very interesting answers.

YOURE RIGHT NOONE SHOULD BE FORCED INTO ANY RELGION. AND IT DOES SEEM LIKE ITS BECOMING MORE OF A POLITICAL THING. BUT CAN I TELL U THAT CRISTIANITY IS NOT A RELGION NOR WAS IT EVER MEANT TO BE. AS YOU SAID IT HAS BECOME MORE OF A POLITICAL DOGMA. I CANT SPEAK MANY OTHER BELIEFS BUT CHRISTIANITY IS NOT A RELIGION BUT ITS A LIFESTYLE.
ITS TO LIVE CHRIST-LIKE.

They all become more corrupt with time. Anything that man has control over becomes corrupt. I'm a Christian, and I don't like religions. In Christianity, men of God are followed, they all become known by a certain name (eg. the Quakers 'quaked' when they prayed), then those in subsequent generations lose touch with the real thing. It becomes simply another man-made institution, even though some sincere Christians may be a part of it. I don't believe that religions have the power to convert people, so some resort to other means of proselytizing.

Might makes right, didn't you know?
You are going to believe like me or else.
Sounds like another religion that drives planes into buildings.
Based on hatred, jealousy.
What is jealousy? It is the want to have what you have.
Interesting that they can't see the holes in their religion. There are other religions that are the same and the people can't see the holes in them either.
Hmmmm!
Could it be that someone is blocking them from seeing the truth?
Some one very powerful.
Someone who has the ability to stop you from seeing the truth?
Someone with powers that are beyond the natural?
Could be, couldn't it?

Excuse me Elder...which I doubt you are or you would not have asked such a question....no one is forcing you or anyone else to do anything. If a person asks for information about God they will get it. If they hang around with Christians they will likely hear a lot about God. If they come to places like this forum its pretty much a given that people will talk about God. But forced conversion...I do not even own a gun and if someone holds a gun to your head and says convert or else (remember you do not believe in hell, so hellfire and damnation are not a threat or a compulsion from someone to convert)....you can be sure...that is not a member of any major religious belief.

Well i can't speak for all religions but, as a Christian I dont think Jesus would want us to hide him in a box or in our pocket. Especially after feeling the way hes changed us inside and out, it gets me excited for others. But I dont go up to everyone and force the Holy Bible down there throat. However I am not shy to tell people about Jesus and how he can change their life.

Beware of false religions. There are many false religions. If you go to a church that doesn't preach strictly from the bible, then they are a false religion. You have the choice to choose, make it the right decision. We aren't supposed to be worried about our own souls, we are supposed to care about everyone else's as well. Thank you and may GOD bless.

The only religion that forces you to convert is Islam. With Christianity or Judaism you always have a choice.

It is a human frailty that we cannot accept our own mortality. Most of us must invent alternatives or go insane. The idea that there is no God, no afterlife, is so foreign that the very idea of it has to be exterminated.

Religion was created as a justifiable means to conquer others.
