Damn Spots...... grrrr... i used to suffer from acne, and still on the rare occasion get a number of them jumping out on me.......

it drove me crazy at school. i tried nearly everything and did not seem to get any joy, i got pretty damn depressed about them.

anyhow..

i also have a brother who suffered a lot worse. in his case he went on some serious medications, the medications affected his self esteem, made him suffer depression and he became a bit of a recluse, he would lock himself away from others, this went on for about 6-9 months. i personallly would say that it was worse time of my bros life. on the plus side, his spots cleared and left only a little scarring, he suffered reallly bad though.

i didnt suffer spots as bad. but was bothered about them... when did mine clear up?

at about the age of 15-16, when i started enjoying work more, got intoo sports, started eating and drinking healthier and generally stopped caring about them...

i dont know wether this can be backed up by someone with medical knowledge. when i became less stressed and worked up in general i stopped suffering from spots.

if i have a bad week, and eat a lot of crap foods and generally get stressed out i can guarantee i will break out.

so my suggestion.

Stop worrying about suffering from spots, do keep up a good regime of hygiene, take up a sport or activity that you enjoy, eat healthy and enjoy life.

not only will the above suggestions help clear the spots, but they will also lead to a better state of general welfare, lifes to short to be getting all fed up about spots.

take care.

try herbal remedies like witch hazel or t-tree. Many moons ago i found that many of these so called "Miracle" creams actually caused spots. invest in a steamer and steam your face once a week also use a facial scrub once a week and a mask. If you have a really cool mum (which most of us don't have) ask her to take you for a facial once a month where they will unclog your pores (squeeze your blackheads..yuck) Also make sure that you're rinsing your face properly, you could be leaving face wash on your face without realising it.
But you know everybody gets a few spots from time to time. I'm 30 and still get a few and I do all of the above. All these cover girls and models have their face airbrushed or are so caked in make up that you cant see them, believe me if they are a woman they have spots. Be happy my sister and don't stress over them because stress can also cause spots!! ;0) XXXX

You're at that time in your life when your hormones go haywire. I don't think anyone can really estimate when your spots will stop wrecking havoc as I am 31 and I've had spots since I was your age (However they aren't as bad as they used to be).
The best thing I can suggest is using products containing Tea Tree Oil, and even using the oil directly on spots (the oil should be diluted first). Tea Tree Oil has anti-fungal/anti-bacterial properties and should help banish those spots in no time at all. But also remember to drink lots of water to cleanse your system.

Hi, its probably your age. Washing 3-4 times a day will strip the skin of its natural oils and may make it more greasy. Use a non-oil based moisturiser and a gentle face wash. I use face wipes and find they are much softer on my skin and have stopped it being so greasy. Also try to eat plenty of fruit and vegetables and drink lots of water. You say it happens once a month, it may be related to your hormones!

Yes, it is your age. And you'll probably have problems with spots once a month for a number of years to come (before your period).

Do not wash your face with cleansing products more than twice a day (preferably only once, in the evening), or you will damage the natural protective layer of your skin. This will result in even more spots.

The best solutions for spots on the skin is to visit a skin clinic. There used to be one at the Royal Free Hospital, in Hampstead.

Creams are certainly no good.

Your skin pores also need washing thoroughly at least three or four times each day to combat the greasy skin you possibly have.

Don't forget the skin clinic. They have better answers than we do here, ok?

Good luck! x

if it really bugs you go to a dermatologist.
ask your mum if she had and spots and what she used because your skins maybe the same.
its probably your age, because you are hitting puberty and your skin gets oilier. also around your period your skin may get more spots and more oil.
dont wash your face too much (just one in the morning, once in the evening) otherwise your pores may get blocked, causing more spots. every week you can use a facial scrub (try st. ives) to make your skin smooth.

with some facial masks, be careful because lots of them are for mature skin and your skin may be a bit too sensitive.

if you want to cover them up you can try and use a medicated concealer although the colours may not match your skin tone.

if you go to a dermatologist she tell you what products are best for you. otherwise, just try different things and ask your friends.

if its once a month, its probably a hormonal thing. i went 2 my doctor and he put me on the pill THIS MADE IT SOOOO MUCH WORSE! then i went on oral antibiotics, and i started using clinique for oily skin (but any gentle, high quality skin care would do) it takes a while 2 see results but its working (yey!) and it worked 4 a friend of mine 2.

loads of ppl will say proactiv, but in my experiance, it just drys out your skin loads and doesnt really stop the spots. ppl will also tell you to eat better/drink more water/sleep more. all these things help your complexion, but they do nothing about your hormones, or the bacteria in your skin.

also, when you get one try really hard not to squeeze it, i know its hard but try. just dab some antiseptic on it every 4 hours and leave it alone. thats the best way to treat them.

my spots cleared up around age 15 to 16, as it is a hormonal thing and they should settle down eventually. to help your skin i would recommend using tea-tree oil or witch-hazel. spots usually appear in the t-zone (fore-head,nose,chin) pay attention to these areas
