, We don't, government and politicians do. The conservatives turn a blind eye to companies that hire illegals because they don't want to draw the wrath of big business, their cash cow, and the liberals want to make them all legal and give them everything they can and when we are finally up to our knees with illegals, they wring their hands and tell Americans that we should do the right thing and give them amnesty, Congress did it before and chances are, they will do it again. Every illegal in America knows it and so do the ones waiting to sneak in from Mexico. Why wouldn't they come here, the government bureaucrats and politicians with a few exceptions, are aways there to lend a helping hand.

I think the real question is: why have you let yourself be drawn into phony issues that were created by politicians to take your attention off of real issues? Didn't you notice that the Bush administration (specifically Karl Rove, the propagandist) created this "issue" out of thin air?
Republicans are convinced that these hordes of "millions" of illegal immigrants are using up all the public resources. In reality, the Republicans are cutting all social programs anyway, so there won't be any left for us Americans, let alone anyone else. Try getting a college education (easily $100k) when Pell Grants are a few measily hundred dollars. Try getting health insurance when the Republicans rig the system to favor pharmaceutical companies.
Republicans think that spending money on wars is a good idea, and spending on social programs a bad idea. Illegal immigration isn't that big of an issue; trying to get healthcare if you're an illegal will likely cause you to get deported anyway, so I don't see how they could be taking this stuff away from us. And if you think a giant wall along the Mexican border is a good idea.... well then, welcome to Berlin, comrade.

In theory, the INA should be able to stop illegal immigrants from entering over our borders. The problem seem to be that there are not enough INA personnel to cover such a large area of borders. I think the Army should put some of its homeland troops on the borders to help with the patrolling of the borders. I, too, believe that once caught the illegals should be sent back to where ever they came from. If they came here for political asylum, their case should be resolved before letting them loose on the country. I also believe that before a person can obtain citizenship in the US they should have to learn at least enough English to understand and be understood by the average American. I also think that a student going to a public school should be able to understand or be understood. A teacher shouldn't have to be bi-lingual to get a job in a public school. And while I'm on my soapbox, nobody should be able to receive welfare unless they are a citizen, or at least paying taxes. Why should the rest of us have pay them when they are here illegally.
ALSO REMEMBER, FOLKS, THE GOVERNMENT WANTS TO GET INTO ALL AREAS OF YOUR LIVES. THE ONLY WAY TO KEEP OUR BASIC FREEDOMS IS TO VOTE FOR THE PEOPLE WHO BELIEVE IN FREEDOM. THERE ARE DARN FEW OF THEM LEFT IN WASHINGTON THESE DAYS!

By 2010 the Security and Prosperity Partnership will be in place(as stated by their mission statement). This will allow pretty much free movement between borders and entail a security perimiter around Canada, the US, and Mexico.
