They already took over the world once, and it was the bloodiest, more cruel and evil time we ever experienced. Through the fall of the roman empire, the dark ages, the spanish inquisition (which went only until around 1850), the conquests, the burning of everything not christian (countless information and history from the mayans, celts, druids, etc. were all lost forever) and so on.

Older civilizations were actually fairly advanced. They built the pyramids, stonehenge, the old egyptians could perform brain surgery successfully, the romans had water based cooling in their homes (we still don't know exactly how it was done), many were literate and there were lots of amazing things and knowledge everywhere.

Then christianity took root and civilization literally collapsed to be replaced with violence, fear, death, and the most ignorant period of human history. Freethinkers, doubters and scientists were actively hunted down and killed as witches, women were property, the cruelty and malice of the bible came to life. It was a horrid time.

Thankfully science did emerge with force and break through the insanity and religion has been receding to be replaced with knowledge, understanding and civility. Historically, christianity is inversely correlated with human progress. When it's strong, humanity makes no steps forward, the more it decreases the more steps we make towards better humanity and better life. Christians had their shot and I don't think they'll manage to do it again - everything depends on it.

Most unlikely. If it came to actual conquest of the world by force, the muslim religion for example seems a lot more used to the violence and wars, and may be better experienced.

Having said that, the USA is suffering from huge numbers of Christians in it's folds and so if they took over the world...i guess they could take their religion with it...whether others would accept it is another matter

There is no evidence for this to happen. Other major religions of the world such as Buddhism and Islam do not play lesser roles. Just as Christians would never give up their own religion, other religions would never do the same. Old beliefs and traditions are deeply rooted in many cultures.

If you want to take over the world you only need to control the few who are in power, a few thousand people in each country. That's why the dominionists seek to influence politics, and people wonder why they have so much power, having said that I think their power is limited to creating war, as all the power hungry people fight each other because they couldn't share from the very beginning

NO! If Christians take over the world, then they are no longer christians but dictators and are following a path that is totally different than that detailed by Christ, whom their religion is named after.

If you redefine Christian to be blood thirsty barbarian bent on world domination then your question would make sense and could happen. :-)

No. We, Christians, are focused on heaven. Why should we bother ourselves with the things anything down here on earth, where dust and moths corrode?

If we wanted to, yes. Do we want to? not in the least. There is a better place for us where we aren't bothered by the ignorant questions and ridicule from non-believers.

Well, considering they make up less than 20% of it, I don't know how they would do it. This thinking that Christian make up some vast majority of the world is wrong. So, if you think 1.5 billion people can somehow overcome the other 5.5 billion, go for it. Realistically, it wouldn't be possible.

True christians aren't looking to take over the world, we are looking to make it a better and more peaceful place. It doesn't matter what you beleive, that can't sound like a bad thing. Thank you and GOD bless.

Christians follow Christ. The Bible clearly talks about the Second Coming of Christ, and He will rule for a 1000 years.

In the end, Revelation also talks about how the present earth and heaven fleeing in the presence of God the Father at judgement day, for no place will be found for them. A new heaven and a new earth will be created...and the faithful will dwell in the new Jerusalem.

Christians seek to please God through faith in Christ...not power or world domination. Christ commanded us to love one another, even our enemies.

Do you mean force everyone to believe their theology or master all of the worlds resources? No to the first, and possibly to the second.

A follow-up question would be which branch of Christianity?
