I tried spraying him with a waterbottle which works for a little bit he runs away... but then he goes back on top of the dresser and drinks the fish's water again. I tried to spank him but I hate doing that. Does anyone know of a way to get him to stop?

Don't spank him, that never works. I'd suggest putting some kind of lid, or covering on your betafish's bowl, so he can't drink from it. You may also want to try putting a water bowl that he CAN drink from near where the fish's bowl is, so maybe he will start to drink from that, and not your fish bowl.

Put a lid on the fish bowl. If you don't got a lid that can fit your bowl. Well I suggest a different bowl that does come with a lid. Also put a bowl of water about the same tempature as the fish water where the fish bowl was and move the fish bowl to a different location. Hope this helps.

in the journey that your kitties are like mine, they do it for spite. The extra you attempt to get them to renounce, the further they do it. it really is an interest element. I absolutely have one cat who will in effortless words drink out of the kitchen tap, or a airborne dirt and mud puddle. He can watch me fill the water bowls (i regulate the water of their dishes 3 circumstances an afternoon and wash the bowl with warm soapy water), he will scent it, stick his tongue in it once then pass on to the tap. the acceptable element i imagine you could do, is canopy the fish bowl in plastic wrap, with a pair holes poked interior the genuine for ventilation. they're going to imagine that the bowl is favourite, and get a wonder at the same time as they pass to drink. ultimately, they're going to provide up. I did this at the same time as yet another of my cats determined that the acceptable water became rest room water. It took per week, and an entire roll of saran wrap, and a observe on the rest room seat caution that the plastic became there, and to change at the same time as performed.....i did not pick any of my acquaintances or kin to get a wonder.

Put a covering on top of the bowl so the cat can't get at it or put the bowl really high so the cat can't get at it. Also make sure you have fresh water available throughout the house so the cat doesn't get dehydrated.

Try fitting a screen over it that he cannot push off. Always keep fresh water for him near his food bowl. Then again he just might be trying to be "sneaky" and waiting to snatch the betafish!! Ha..but please don't let that happen...
