It was God the Father that said "this is My only Son."
Ever heard of the Holy Trinity? There is only one True God. God is spiritual and is 3 Divine Persons. The Father is our creator, the Son is our Redeemer and the Holy Spirit is our advocate. The Father sent the Son to mankind and after the Son ascended back to Heaven, He sent the Holy Spirit to mankind to guide and protect His church, starting with the apostles, St. Peter being the head (pope).
John 1:1 says that the Word was God. The Word is Jesus, the Son, thus Jesus is God.
John 8:19 Jesus said that if we know Him, we know His Father. This means that the Son and the Father are equal, one on the same = God; Also see John 10:30-33 the Father and I are one. John 10:38 the father is in Me and I am in the Father. Jesus makes many references to Him and His Father being in one, being equal. Meaning that the Father and the Son are God.
Also Thomas (doubting Thomas) says "my Lord and my God" in John 20:28. And Jesus accepted his prayer. Jesus didn't correct him because Jesus is our Lord and our God.
Also note that no where in the Bible does Jesus call God His God, only His Father. And the Holy Spirit always calls God 'our Lord' when He speaks to the apostles and others. And in Genesis, God says "us" a few times (also in other books in OT and NT) because He is talking among all 3 Divine Persons.

That was Jesus's baptisim.(not the transfiguration) God as spirit still has a voice, even tho He is Jesus in the flesh, God spirit was still in heaven, and as He said This is my only Son with whom Iam pleased, the Holy Spirit appeared in the sign of a dove

Jesus Christ is the only Son of God. He is part of the Trinity of God: God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
The Father was pleased with His only Son.

“This is my Son, the beloved, whom I have approved; listen to him.” The Father said this because Jesus is his only begotten son.
There is no such thing as the Trinity, This is largest lie that Satan uses to keep people from knowing who the True God is, if he can do this, he's got you.
“Concerning that day and hour nobody knows, neither the angels of the heavens nor the Son, but only the Father.” (Matthew 24:36) How do these words confirm that Jesus is not Almighty God?
Jesus says that the Father knows more than the Son does. If Jesus were part of Almighty God, however, he would know the same facts as his Father. So, then, the Son and the Father cannot be equal. Yet, some will say: ‘Jesus had two natures. Here he speaks as a man.’ But even if that were so, what about the holy spirit? If it is part of the same God as the Father, why does Jesus not say that it knows what the Father knows?
1st of all Jesus said: He pointed to God as the Source of his life, saying, “I live because of the Father.” According to the context, this meant that his life resulted from or was caused by his Father, even as the gaining of life by dying men would result from their faith in Jesus’ ransom sacrifice.
Jesus’ being called the “only-begotten Son” does not mean that the other spirit creatures produced were not God’s sons, for they are called sons as well. However, by virtue of his being the sole direct creation of his Father, the firstborn Son was unique, different from all others of God’s sons, all of whom were created or begotten by Jehovah through that firstborn Son. So “the Word” was Jehovah’s “only-begotten Son” in a particular sense,
Jesus is also “Mighty God” and “Eternal Father.” This does not mean that he usurps the authority and position of Jehovah, who is “God our Father.” (2 Corinthians 1:2) “He [Jesus] gave no consideration to a seizure, namely, that he should be equal to God.” (Philippians 2:6) He is called Mighty God, not Almighty God. Jesus never thought of himself as God Almighty, for he spoke of his Father as “the only true God,” that is, the only God who should be worshiped. (John 17:3;
Rev. 1:1; 3:14, RS: “The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him, why did God have to give the revelation to Jesus, if he is God? .
Does the Bible teach that none of those who are said to be included in the Trinity is greater or less than another, that all are equal, that all are almighty? Mark 13:32, RS: “Of that day or that hour no ones knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” (Of course, that would not be the case if Father, Son, and Holy Spirit were coequal, comprising one Godhead. And if, as some suggest, the Son was limited by his human nature from knowing, the question remains, Why did the Holy Spirit not know?)
John 14:28, RS: “[Jesus said:] If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I go to the Father; for the Father is greater than I.”
1 Cor. 11:3, RS: “I want you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of a woman is her husband, and the head of Christ is God.” (Clearly, then, Christ is not God, and God is of superior rank to Christ. It should be noted that this was written about 55 C.E., some 22 years after Jesus returned to heaven.
A person who is really seeking to know the truth about God is not going to search the Bible hoping to find a text that he can construe as fitting what he already believes. He wants to know what God’s Word itself says. He may find some texts that he feels can be read in more than one way, but when these are compared with other Biblical statements on the same subject their meaning will become clear. It should be noted at the outset that most of the texts used as “proof” of the Trinity actually mention only two persons, not three; so even if the Trinitarian explanation of the texts were correct, these would not prove that the Bible teaches the Trinity.
Did Jesus ever say that he was God? No, he never did. Rather, in the Bible he is called “God’s Son.” And he said: “The Father is greater than I am.” Also, Jesus explained that there were some things that neither he nor the angels knew but that only God knew. (Mark 13:32) Further, on one occasion Jesus prayed to God, saying: “Let, not my will, but yours take place.” (Luke 22:42) If Jesus were the Almighty God, he would not have prayed to himself, would he?

First of all, you have to realize that there is the God Trinity. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost. Inorder for God to come on earth to be crucified for our sins, He sent Jesus. The Holy Ghost could not be crucified in no way, the Father could also not be crucified in anyway as well. For this to be possible He came to be flesh. So then Jesus is God in the flesh. If you follow me. Jesus being in the flesh made it possible for His crucifixion. Jesus also made it clear to us that Him and His Father are one in the new testament. Which again reiterates the fact that they're one. Perfect example, lets take today being Monday to make clearer. We the day Monday, but in this day we have monday morning , monday afternoon, and then monday evening all in this same day with different purposes. God the Father is the Head of the Trinity, God the Son is God in the flesh who came to die for our transgressions (sins), and God the Holy Ghost is the one who comes to dwell in us to give us understanding of the BIble.
I hope this answer clarifies your question...?

I noticed that a lot of your questions though asked differently, are the same. You see, it all boils down to the fact that God does have a son. His name is Jesus. The whole idea of "The father, the Son and the holy ghost can be answered simply like this:
The Father IS God.
The Son is Jesus.
The Spirit or "Holy Ghost" is the essence of God.
They are separate but the same. To say they are the same is like saying a man and a woman are joined as one.
So what did Jesus represent? Himself. You see, in our world, people don't listen to God. Obviously according to what you have read in Yahoo members response to the question, "Does God exist?" I can best illustrate my answer like this:
If you saw a flock of birds gathered outside in the snow just before a major snow storm was about to hit, how would you tell them to fly south? You would have to become a bird.
Comparatively, God had to speak to man, like a man. Live like a man and even suffer like a man in order to effectively communicate with us. Let's face it, I respect a man more when he is in the trenches of battle along side of me rather than in a nice cushy office barking orders.
But then again, it all boils down to faith. Trust your heart and listen.

Jesus was God in 'incarnate' form. He appeared to Abraham, and even to Adam and Eve in the Garden! Yes, this was Jesus who appeared to Adam in the Garden of Eden. Remember what He said to Phillip the apostle? Jesus said: 'Before Abraham was, . . .I am.!' He is God, He doesn't have to be born like you and me. Only when it was totally necessary for God Himself to rescue sinfull, rebellious mankind using a human body. No sinful or sinner, not even a prophet like Elijah or Moses could be asked to sacrifice themselves for the sins of mankind. Only a 'sinless' sacrifice of a human life could be acceptable, to be offer as a 'propitiation' for the sins of mankind!
That's why Jesus was both God and man, and a sinless man at that, and He graciously offered Himself, to the Father in Heaven in our place, on the cruel cross of Calvary.
This is why the Father in Heaven, who is also (the Son and the Holy Spirit!), begat Jesus of Mary a human woman. The Bible tells us that God, through His only begotten Son Jesus, was actually in Christ, 'reconcilling' the sinful world unto Himself on the cross! He can do this because He's God and God can be in many different places, and times and dimensions all at once! So if your next question is: How can God be in Heaven and Jesus still be God on earth? There's my answer for that question as well . . . Jesus was God, be God 'emptied' most of His power and glory that He has in Heaven, so a human body can contain Him. But He was still able to call upon that glorious power and authority when it was necessary. Like when He calmed the stormy sea of Galilee, or used His authority as God to cast out Satan's demons from people!

Its like a three leaf clover. The clover is one, but it has three different leaves. God the Father was announcing to the world that Jesus is truly God and the Messiah.
