I used to use Norton, but have switched to Acronis True Image.
I trust it more.

But you can also just use something like WinZip to compress the file and tell it to limit the file size to 4Gig - it will create two files that you can use XP to write to DVD.

Also, you could (if this is going to be an on-going issue) buy a Dual Layer DVD Writer and get the 8Gig media for that. Eventually, you may have the same problem but you might be able to push it off a bit.

Norton Ghost is fine for data back-up and storage, but for large files that need to be run from a DVD you need a double=layer DVD and a drive to burn and read them.

Well if its data then its quite simple just transfer the first 4.7GB then the rest to a CD as it should fit however if its a video you will need a video splitter tool or just get a Dual Layer DVD Disc which is 8.4GB.

Just buy a dual layer dvd disc, assuming you have a dual layer dvd re-writer. Yes they do work. I just transferred 6.5gb on 1 dvd

Why not just use one disc using Nero Recode or DVD Shrink or Roxio. These will compress it on to one disc without losing quality
