Any living language will evolve somewhat...but we control the rate. So uniformity would give us the most continuity over time and space..while diversity found regionally or among cultural groups form the beginnings of new languages if diversion continues may be important cohesive factor for that group...which is more important?

unity in diversity.

all will one day have a universal language (creating unity)

but

will still have their native tongues (diversity)

therefore UNITY IN DIVERSITY

Language does evolve over time, but what you're talking about is the ideal versus reality. Since business functions best under a uniform language, the market place will tend to dictate what path to follow.
