Does it make you mad when someone talks poorly of yourself and your beliefs in Christ? Sometimes when a family member lashes out at me for my beliefs I get sad but Jesus clearly tells us to rejoice when they do for we know we're doing our job.

Matthew 5.11
"Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake.
"Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

and he later adds to pray for your enemies in Matthew 5.44

No son, it makes me sad for them. I know the things they say are not true so I give them no credence. It has taken me a while to get to this point though.

Hmmm, someone telling you that your beliefs will be questioned.

And that's supposed to tell you that you're doing the right thing ?

Isn't that the case with ANY BELIEF ?

Doesn't EVERY belief receive persecution?

Haven't Christians persecuted those of other beliefs ? (Crusades, Inquisition, etc)

How could someone take such a generic comment that would apply to ANYTHING and think it's intelligent.

That Jesus was a smart guy

Once again, Christians take something that happens to everyone and hijack it as theirs - what else is new?

Oops, is that persecution too?

The great Homer created the universe.

Homer lives with his wife Marge, and 3 kids, Bart, Lisa and Maggie.

People will say this is a show called "The Simpsons" but when they say that... that's just PROOF that the great Homer really did create the universe.

See how stupid your point is? Just because someon tells you you are wrong, does not make you right. That's got to be the silliest argument you could possibly put forth... it's almost as bad as "What you say is what you are" or some playground comeback.

Yes it has upset me many times but then I had someone tell me or remind me to remember what Christ went through so I am trying to let some things roll on and roll off. It isn't easy to do but sometimes if I just ignore the comment or try to just laugh it off.
Remembering the scriptures is a very good idea..

Er... people don't talk poorly about my beliefs. Because, well, I don't talk about them to others. If people go around telling everyone, "Jesus is the way to salvation, convert now, save yourselves!" I would tell them to be quiet, please, because I hate people who try to convert others. It's fairly annoying, even if I have the same beliefs as you. It's like, if a Jewish person doesn't talk about their religion, I'm not talking to them about my religion.

it doesnt make me mad... it makes me extremely sad tho... it is as if the Spirit within me grieves... but then i remember that Jesus himself was mocked and denied by his own hometown... why should my family be any different... sometimes they see the difference in my life, but then they justify their own choices... I pray a lot for my family and my in-laws as well...

Nope.
Part of life.
Besides, believers in other parts of the world are being killed for what they believe. I can handle someone simply looking down at me.

Does it make you mad to know that the prophecy about the virgin birth was a mistranslation and it was never supposed to say virgin?
