I was with my ex for 7 years...Since we was both 17..We broke up about a month ago because we was both feeling overwhelmed, mostly him really. We have a baby on the way and I think he is scared. Anyhow, I was wondering if couples ever took a break or if the man left...Did he come back? Or try to come back? Thanks!

Being a father, I can understand the pressure that a child can bring. Sometimes, the woman in the situation does not make things easier. She naturally has a lot of stress, hormones running wild from the pregnancy, and the relationship can be put into a pressure cooker.

If the guy feels that the relationship isn't just about the baby, and that there is still a lot of good times to be had (ie sex, joking, fun), and that parenting is something that is going to be more rewarding than challenging, then I am sure he will come back. If you want him back, try not to make things too serious. It will scare him off. If he's cheating, or behaving like a jerk, I don't know if you should even want him back.

Men often do try to come back -- I still have fairly strong relationships with all my long-term exes and, for months-long stretches (presumably when they're not with anyone else), they'll call and ask to give the relationship another try. The thing for me is that it always happens at the most inconvenient times -- usually when I'm in a romantic situation with someone else. I take this as fate's way of telling me that this guy was a chapter in my life that has been closed -- and that I shouldn't reopen it/date him again.

As for you, I think you should think REALLY hard about whether you want to let this guy back into your life. I don't know the whole story, but it sounds like he left you when you were pregnant and vulnerable. If he does come back, you guys need to have a loooong talk. If he's unwilling to make some of the compromises you need to make a relationship work, then remember that there are tons of other guys out there -- ones who would make you happier than your ex. Best of luck.

Having a baby is overwhelming and dramatically changes a relationship. I know from experience. It sounds like you both need to take a long, hard look at things and figure out how you are going to work things out baby-wise. Will he have visitation rights? How involved does he want to be in your and your baby's life, etc. YOu are both scared which is perfectly normal. I wish you the best of luck.

Not usually.
Depends on the reason for the break. It sounds like he's immature and you're going to get stuck raising a child on your own.
There's nothing to be overwhelmed by. He 24 and obviously decided his freedom is more important than raising a family.

In my experience, the man has always come back at some point or another. Sometimes it was far too late for me to care though :( Gotta have patience I guess.
