I was wondering because I am going on a cruise soon for a week and my parents will probably make me eat lots of fattening things...it's ITALIAN by the way so that means plenty of pizza etc... I was wondering how long it takes for excess calories to get turned into fat. Is it automatic or does it depend like..on your weekly overall calorie intake? For example, if I ate 3500 calories one day, would I instantly gain a pound the next day? Basically, I want to know how long it takes for excess calories to be turned into body fat and if there is time to burn it off or eat fewer calories the next day to not gain the weight.

there must be a caloric excess over an extended period of time in order for noticeable weight gain to occur. weight gain is not something that happens on a daily basis.

Three pizzas at Pizza Hut is around 300 calories each for hand-tossed. What's wrong with having 3 pieces or 2 at a time? Just watch to make sure you don't eat too much pizza. For stuffed, it's 600 or so per slice.

You can easily eat 6 pizza slices (not stuffed), and not gain any weight. Of course, that's with not eating anything else that day.

It depends where the calories are coming from. All calories are not created equal. Nourish your body thin, instead of starving your body fat. Good carbs like celery and carrots will never make you fat. Bad carbs like cake will, but you don't need to know the whole science of glycemic load. You need to re-learn how to eat so you can become thin and healthy. Salt has no calories but makes you fat and burning more calories does not help this fatness.

How can your parents MAKE you eat lots of fattening foods? There are always healthy choices even if it's italian. Are your parents going to blend up a whole pepperoni pizza and dump it down your throat? You can make wise choices I'm sure.
