I know that this is an impossible question to ask but different theorys would be interesting. When you are concieved at what point does your soul enter your body, is it when you take your first breath? Or is it when you are in the womb, but then how can 2 souls (yours and your mothers) occupy the same space?
And this whole idea of having a soul, is it plausable or does it just cater to mankinds need for some kind of immortality?

From my religious beliefs, the soul enters at the moment of conception.
The mother has her own soul, but the baby has it's own too. The woman is just basically housing the baby.

I guess the whole idea of a sould depends if your religious or not.

what is the soul? does the soul really exist? how do you know that you even possess a soul? so before you ask the question you need to find out if souls exist in the first place and is the body that carries it around like a machine and is the soul the ghost in the machine and can the two exist without each other? I would say that the soul only exists in biblical terms and at the end of the day you are what you are.

God is omnipotent, and all knowing, the soul belongs to God, and God can put it in a body at any time he wants; be it at conception, or at actual birth, or even later in life.

Many philosophers think you aren't human without the soul. I think of it more like the operating software.

Since the soul is considered to have an ethereal existence any number could be in the same space. And yes, it is probably nothing more than a transitional device to answer religious questions that you would have without it.

I don't think we can venture a definite point at when the soul enters into us... tho I really think it is when the heart starts beating...

the 2 souls would not occupy the same space... because the womb is the babies space and the soul isnt 'in' any given space of us... it just is... the baby is seperate, soulwise, from the mother... a total seperate person

According to Budhism the soul, reincarnation occurs at the moment of conception.
When youre enter the bardo of living, basicly you see your parents copulate and feel attracted, the greater attraction you have to one of youre parents the opposite sex you will develop and be reborn in.
Two souls dont occupy the same space, its the way we develop in a womb. Its two differnt beeings.

different religions have different takes on when the "ensoulment" occurs.

certainly Adam did not become a "living soul" until god breathed into his nostrils "the breath of life". so some believe that the soul does enter until you breathe on your own and it leaves when you stop breathing.

As far as the reality of a soul, there is a part of us that is immortal and that continues on after this life is over.

god bless

Traditionally, at first breath.

"need for some kind of immortality" - a common argument, but you could argue the idea of love just caters to mankinds need for some kind of caring relationship.

If we have a soul it enters the moment an egg is fertilized and starts to multiply. The soul enters at the moment when life is created and leaves when the body is no longer able to sustain it.
Nothing is ever destroyed. This is a scientific fact.If we burn something the molecules readjust themselves into something else and so it is with life and a soul. Why would you believe that life and the soul would be the only things to defy the laws of nature. If you have ever had the experience of leaving your body due to immense pain or temporary death then you would have no doubt. I certainly have no doubt.

According to the bible it's at three months in the womb. According to Plato the soul is seperate from the body and is part of the mind.

The soul enters the body at the moment of conception
As it is spirit and not 'solid' or physical, it takes up no room
