Yeah, I think it would be ok to just introduce yourself and start talking with a girl. But try to find the perfect timing, or something that would give you a reason to talk to her. You don't wanna look awkward about it, cause then the girl will think that you're on the weirdo side. Good luck!

Be self-confident and go up and introduce yourself while looking her in the eye and smiling a genuine smile. Be relaxed (even if you are nervous) and show interest in her. Girls love that!

Actually, it takes a lot of nerve to introduce yourself, so I think that is way cool. But if you leave yourself in an awkard position after doing so.... can sometimes be .... well ... awkward. So have your "exit line" ready

i would rather a guy introduce himself. It shows me he is confident and shows some interest.

Starting the conversation yourself is better then having a strange guy come up to you and say 'My friend wants to meet you'.
