tricky. it is hard for younger people to have a strictly platonic relationship with someone of the opposite sex. I am wondering, female friendships are much more rewarding. Male friendships can only go so far. Why have a male best friend? When it comes to frienship females have way more to offer. If you still want to hang with this friend, he needs to be really nice and open with your bf. You should all hang out together, that might put his mind at ease.

It's possible but both have to understand it. Both have to agree or it won't work. You'll either have to quit being buddies with this guy or he'll have to give in. One of the two has to happen. Your still young, your boyfriend is right, you may fall in love with someone else after spending time and getting to know them.
You have time later to be in a serious relationship where you can compromise friendships with other men.
When you marry later in you life, if you do, you won't have the need to have these other friends, as I married my best friend.
Or you'll have a relationship that supports this.
Good Luck, friend.
Don't let this get in the way of your studies!

Honey, you can not change someone or the way they think. They have to realize it on their own and change on their own. Bottom line is, either he does not trust you or he himself has problems with being "just friends" with someone of the opposite sex and consequently believes no one can have a platonic relationship with the opposite sex. You could always try to go out, the 4 of you. Maybe then he will see the love your friend has for his GF and that there is nothing between you and him.

you took the next step in life and went to college, this is a period of change and growing up, it's time that you expand your life and open up to other people and develop new friendships, you should let go of your past to free yourself to this new world, your Freshman year in college is a time to find new groups of friend and new experiences, don't miss these awesome opportunities by being held back by your past (high school friends and bf's), it's a classic example of "moving on" in life.
years down the road you will tend to go back to certain old High School friends because they meant something or were just great people not to be with, it's an evolution of friendships, if your current anchor (bf) falls in that category then you will be back together in the future, enjoy each stage by living life, not being dragged down by it

yeah, i had that problem too. it is most definitely possible to have a platonic friendship. tell your guy that you and your friend have limits and possibly have the two men talk. i had to do that and now the guys are really good friends. i hope that this works out for you!!

Try to arrange a situation where both guys can meet and get to know each other - maybe w/your friend's girlfriend there too. Sounds like he just needs to grow up a little bit.

Simply put he is threatened by other guys. Its understandable but what you need to prove is that there is no threat. What you can do is go out on a few double dates with your friend and his GF. Make your boyfriend comfortable with him and perhaps they will be friends
