It involves compressing the breast tissue between 2 cushioned pads and taking an x-ray to check for problem areas of the breast tissue that might or could be breast cancer or the start of breast cancer. It is uncomfortable, but only for the few seconds that the technician takes to get things set up then steps over to the controls to actually press the buttons to take the xray. Then the compression is released and you let out a sigh of relief. You hold you breath when the x-ray is taken. The ladies are usually very professional and caring when they get you ready and explain everything and answer all your questions before they start.

I just had my first mammogram in January at the age of 32! I was scared because everyone said it hurts. Mine didn't hurt. They take you in the room and make you undress just the top and put your breast on the machine and stretch it to make sure the picture turns out. Then they take this plastic thing and smash your breast, sounds worse than it really is. They take the picture and do the other breast and your done. Depending on how many pictures you need it is really quick. DON'T wear deodorant or powder etc that day, can make the pictures look filmy and not turn out right!! GOOD LUCK and hope this helped

It's not too bad. Not that great either. They have this tray they lay your boob on and a tray from the top comes down and really smushes it flat. And it can go much flatter than you think! LOL! It does kinda hurt alittle, but not so bad you want to scream or anything. Just be still! Cause your stuck there. Some places have these little pad things they can use. It hurts much less with those if they have them. Good luck.

A mammogram is an X-ray of the breasts. A radiographer helps you to position one breast at a time on a small flat plate, with an X-ray plate under it. There is another flat plate above your breast. When the machine is switched on, your breast is pressed down between the plates by the machine for a few moments. The compression of the breast helps to give a clear picture for the doctors to examine. No it does not hurt as such. It is mildly uncomfortable.

a mamogram is where a doctor places your exposed breast between two plastic sheets and squishes it and takes pictures. It doesn't hurt, but it is cold and uncomfortable. it is hard to explain, but an interesting process. it is a way to better examine breasts and possible lumps.

The first time I had one , I was really scared but it wasn't that bad. The second time it was a little different, It hurt so I am going to say it all depends on who is giving it. Its just uncomfortable.

I don't know about anyone else, but mine hurt quite badly and for a while after they're done.

They take each breast as squish it flat to take the x-rays. My doctor does 2 shots of each breast.
