I excercised this morning for softball practice, a lot of running, and I haven't excercised in a long time. I didn't have any food today besides dinner yesterday. Is their a way to prevent from puking? Like does drinking a lot of water before excercise help, or putting my hands ontop of my head or anything?

Exercise on a full stomach can cause this...but it seems in this case, you didn't eat before you exercised.
Drinking EXCESSIVE amounts of water before you can exercise can cause this to happen.
Exercising while dehydrated can also cause this, so drinking some water and staying hydrated can help.

However, for you...it seems you are pushing yourself a little too hard after being so sedentary for a long time.

It would be best to start slow and gradually increase your exercise regimen. Don't exercise on a full stomach, and make sure you stay hydrated with fluids.

Also, if you have risk factors for heart problems (high blood pressure, obesity, high cholesterol, diabetes, smoking, family history of heart problems), you should probably be seen by a physician to clear you for exercise...perhaps with an exercise stress test....especially if your nausea and vomiting is associated with sweating, shortness of breath, and any chest discomfort.

Hope this helps some!
