I am not an advocate of marriage but being that he is in the military there are many reasons why you should be married when you leave the country stationed overseas. For one you would not be his dependent and would be outside the military support system.
When you say he want's "us" to go with him, I'm going to assume you have children. If any of them are his then only that child would be covered for medical, etc. Not you.
Lastly, not to be a bummer, but if you have US medical insurance it won't be usable overseas.

Getting married will be the final act of his committement to you. You said us do u mean just you and him or do you have kids. Yes suggest the marriage.
