After our deaths, non-existence will not disturb us either.

Why pretend that life-after-death offers anything worthwhile?

I think because for many it's the only alternative to the shock and horror that is ceasing to exist all together.

How do you know we were non-existent before our births? Life after death is a fact whether you believe it or not, you will find this out when you die.

I don't pretend. I'm just scared of ceasing to be. It's that whole self preservation instinct. It terrifies me to know that I won't exist. But I still don't buy into the god myth just because I'm afraid.

It isn't that anything worthwhile is offered... its a threat. Be good or suffer...
