The main thing that is in "most" energy drinks is a lot of simple carbs. They will help give you an energy boost, but that is about it. They aren't really designed to be much more than that. If you want something of substance, stay away from then and go to a store, like GNC, and get something from there that would help in the long run. And yes, drinks like Gatorade and Powerade will leave you feeling worse after you have spent all the carbs that they give you. But for 1000m, you might be OK with the simple carbs. Longer races I would say get something better.

Do not drink an energy drink! These will pull water our of your muscles and will lead to cramping and worsen you r performance. There are many safer and healthier alternatives. Eat an energy gel packet 10 minutes before your race and maybe a second when you are half way through. These cost $1.50 each and will help you run strong all the way to the finish line. Sports drinks are good for both pre and post race hydration which will also lead to more energy!

The best energy drink out there is RED LINE you can get at any GNC or Supplement Store im telling either that or you can get the tablets which are awesomes 3 come in a pack but only take 2 and if you almost fainted last time your body ran out of resources so the best thing you can do i get in alot of carbs to help boost up your energy and drink plenty of water also.

5 Hour power works wonders. it really is lasts hours, and would not make you crash like maximum power drinks. also, it has no sugar, about as a lot caffeine as a cup of espresso, and in effortless words 8 energy. except that, i'd say Mountain Dew's AMP power drinks. they arrive in 3 sizes: wide-spread, Tall Boy, and massive Rig. It tastes tremendous and has a tremendous develop of power i have yet to locate in different power drinks. Edit: Redline is an astounding source of power, yet you need to be 18 or older to purchase, it really is why it really is now excluded from my answer. it will be discovered at very few liquor shops and nutrition shops (e.g. GNC) and also you should in effortless words drink 0.5 for most effectiveness. any extra, and also you is in simple terms no longer in a position to regulate maximum of your movements. Redline, very like 5 Hour power, has no sugar or internet carbs.

No energy drinks usually have a lot of caffeine and other junk in them, maybe some electrolytes. You are better off drinking a nutrition drink from the health food store that is loaded with nutrients that your body needs. Ask the nutritionist in the store what is best.

skip the Red Bull - the caffeine will actually hurt your running.
I suggest one of the carbo gels, or a high carb version of Gatorade.
