I am looking for a good moisturizer, especially for my stomach with me being pregnant. I hear this product is really good but it is expensive ($17 for 6 ounces). I am just curious if it is worth purchasing or should I try a different route. I do have very dry skin.

I know this is long, but please read it!!

I used to work at The Body Shop too, for sure the thing to use when you are pregnant is the cocoa body butter or the stick. However, the shea and coconut are very good as well. The body butter will last you forever, if you use it all over every day it will last you at least 6 weeks, a little goes a long way.

Do me one favor, go into the Body Shop at the end of the night sometime, and slather some butter on you, do not take a shower. The next morning when you wake up feel your skin, I think this test will make up your mind for you.

Please consider that The Body Shop prides itself on having products that actually do good things for your body. Their butters moisturize for 24 hrs! Their ingredients are top of the line.

Also they do not test on animals, or add any ingredients that have been tested, andy they buy the stuff direct from 3rd world countries at a fair market value instead of using a middle man where the farmers always get ripped off.

Stetch marks are genetic. If your mom and sisters have them there is a good chance that it doesn't matter what you use you will probably get them too.

For your dry skin make sure you are not using bar soap in the shower, it's really drying, use a shower gel instead. And don't buy any products with mineral oil in them, they clog your pores so your skin can't absorb any of the good stuff that might actually be in those products....especially facial lotions.

I actually used to work at The Body Shop, and customers were always telling me that the Cocoa Butter Moisturizing Stick was great for pregnancy. I think it's like 12 dollars, so it's a little cheaper than the body butter, and probably lasts just as long.

Consult your physician. Note that anything you put on your skin topically is absorbed into your skin and into your bloodstream. So do avoid highly chemical creams at all costs. You want to get your doctor's approval on anything you put on your body before you purchase it.

I know The Body Shop body butters are expensive. But if you are pregnant, you will want to try moisturizers that are worth the money.

While these are expensive, too - check out Garden Botanika online:

http://www.gardenbotanika.com/jump.jsp?itemType=CATEGORY&itemID=22

The left-hand column gives you a variety of choices and when you click on any of them, in the left column, they tell you about the botanical and natural ingredients which benefit your skin. When you are pregnant you want to be extra careful to use products which are botanical and natural and have as few 'chemicals' as possible. This is worth the money you spend, not only for your own health, but your baby's health as well.

If the cost of the product is the issue, I would recommend Palmers Cocoa Butter lotion for you. You should also add a little bit on natural olive oil to the bottle. this wil keep you skip smooth and combat the dryness. If want a lotion with a scent. You can also mix the above mentioned with your favorite perfumed lotion. It works wonders for me and it saves me a pretty penny. Also, Nordstrom rack has the same stuff for $4.99...I believe its the body butter. Its thick and scented, but works wonders with moisturizing your skin. - Suerte (Good Luck)

Shea butter is awesome, but i have to say the best of Body Shop is Spa Wisdom- African Spa rich body balm. It's worth the money and would do for what you want. Also i heard about a great one called Udderly Smooth, costs just $4,50 (10 OZ) and you can find it Trader Joe's NY, or online at amazon.com

Don't waste your money. Buy some Coconut oil, shea butter, mango butter, and cocoa butter (all organic). Whip them all together in a bowl and you have a full-strength concoction to diminish and prevent stretch marks, giving you all the benefits and none of the filler. Add a couple of drops of your fave essential oil (lavender, vanilla, jasmine, etc..) if you don't like the coconut smell (I personally love it).

I received a gift item with the cocoa body butter, bath oil and lotion recently and it works very well. general skin tone and appearance of stretch marks almost faded. I wish i would have had it when i was pregnant....Consult your doctor before using the bath oil though I had doctor who told me not to take baths in general so be cautious.. Good Luck

They are all quite moisturizing. It depends on the brand and what scent you prefer. Personally I think coconut butter smells amazing, but that's just my preference!
