My first was 5-10 at 36 wks., second was 5- 15 at 37wks., third was 7-7 at 35 weeks?supposely i was 35 weeks that's why I was induced because I was measuring 40 weeks, and the last was 7-6.4. 37wks. My last child measured to be around 9 to 10 pounds 2 days before birth and I was induced 3 weeks early because I wanted to have a natural birth, but as you can see that ultrasound was wrong. I heard that it depends on your shoe size if you are wearing a size 7-10+ shoe size that you could give birth safely to a 8-10 pound baby. And your baby may not even be that large. But if you have concerns then you can elect to have a c-section, just talk to your doctor about your concerns and your options.

girl I was the same way. My doc told me that I was gonna have a big baby; I went 3 days over due and he said that he is gonna induce because at that stage the baby grows quickly. next week he could be 10 lbs. and that could make the labor more difficult. needless to say I went into labor on the day i was supposed to be induced and I had a beautiful 9 lbs., 21 inch. baby boy. The doc was right. If I went a week over he would have been even bigger. That does not mean that you will have a problem. you and the baby should and will be fine!!! GOD BLESS!!

my first was 10 lbs and delivered 4 days late, my second was 9 lbs 4 oz and 21 days late. They tried to induce 4 times for the second one. As i understand, after a certain time the mothers body rejects the baby and stops giving it nutrients. The doc said he probably lost about 2 lbs in the last week, thank god

My daughter weighed 7lbs. 15oz. The problem is not usually with the weight so much as it is the proportion between the size of the baby and your pelvis. I know of women who've required a C-section with babies that weighed 6lbs. and women who've had normal vaginal births with 10lb babies. If your baby's head is disproportionate to your pelvis (which was the case with the 6lb baby resulting in a C-section) you would require a C-section even if you had a smaller baby. A lot of times the Obstetrician can tell this prior to labor by completing an exam. Good luck and I'm sure you'll do just fine!

Don't worry the doctors will be on top of things.... it's hard to tell exactly how large the baby will be beforehand, besides lots of people have 8-9 lb babies everyday!
Mine were 7 lbs 10 oz and 5 lbs 4oz (premature a bit).
Good Luck and I hope everything goes beautifully! You are about to have the time of your life!!!!!

My daughter is having a c-section this Friday. They are estimating her baby to weigh 13.4oz pounds...And she is not a big person. But she is a type 1 diabetic.
I had 5-6 pound babies...And had all c-sections. I was just telling her if it was that bad I wouldn't have done it 2 more time's.
Everyone's bodies are different...You really just don't know. Some people have larger babies just fine. And some need c-sections. Either way you get the greatest gift of all in the end :)
Congrat's and Good-Luck :)

The u/s tech said my baby was measuring almost nine pounds the day I was induced. When he was born two days later, he weighed 7 lbs 1 oz. Ultrasound weight estimates are not accurate, and tend to be off by about a pound to a pound and a half, especially near the end of your pregnancy.
I'm sure you will be fine. good luck, and congratulations--you'll be holding your little one before you know it!

All depends on how your built (pelvic wise). Some women have been known to give birth to 10lb children without a problem. Others have needed c-sections with 6lb babies. I had one 7lb and one 6lb baby. I am pregnant again and i have no clue how big this one was gonna be. I have never been over due so i am not sure. All i can do is wish the best of luck for a safe and fast (hopefully relativley painless) delivery.
