In the Old Testament the boys were circumcised as a sign of the covenant between God & Abrahams descendents. It is just cutting a flap of skin that isn't necessary and is actually cleaner than having the flap there. It doesn't make a man enjoy sex any less either.

In a female circumcision, one cuts out part of the female privates of a girl with no choice. And causes future pain & infection. And does make her not enjoy sex with her spouse.

This is truly anti women.

Yes it is truly evil. Remove sexual pleasure and control your women. Evil stuff. It is done many times in rural areas with cut glass. It is actually "Female Genital MUTILATION" not circumcision.

This is a good and recent article about it.

Remember, Muslim women are fighting against this practice, don't blame them.

Muslim women are quite happy with their circumcision. I am a happily circumcised Muslim woman and have no problem with it, I don’t have a dirty piece of skin covering my clit and I am better off without it. I had it removed when it gave me problems including a bad smell which my husband found irritating and often complained about when we had oral sex. It also gave me painful irritations once in a while. My sex life has since improved much. Even western women are going for it, Its called a hoodetomy there.

A recent study by Sitt Al Banat Khalid ‘Khitan Al-Banat Ru’ yah Sihhiyyah’ (2003) has shown that female circumcision, like male circumcision, offers considerable health benefits, such as prevention of urinary tract infections and other diseases such as cystitis affecting the female reproductive organs.

The latest is the study Orgasmic Dysfunction Among Women at a Primary Care Setting in Malaysia. Hatta Sidi, and Marhani Midin, and Sharifah Ezat Wan Puteh, and Norni Abdullah, (2008) Asia Pacific Journal of Public Health, 20 (4) accessible http://myais.fsktm.um.edu.my/4480/ which shows that being Non-Malay is a higher risk factor for Orgasmic Sexual Dysfunction in women, implying that Malay women experience less problems in achieving orgasm than non-Malay women. As you know almost all Malay women in Malaysia are circumcised (undergo hoodectomy) in contrast to non-Malay women who are not. This would suggest that hoodectomy does in fact contribute to an improved sex life in women rather than diminishing it as some argue.

Another good reason why women need a hoodectomy (Islamic female circumcision). It can prevent cancer arising from oral sex. Here’s an interesting news item:
US scientists said Sunday there is strong evidence linking oral sex to cancer, and urged more study of how human papillomaviruses may be to blame for a rise in oral cancer among white men. In the United States, oral cancer due to HPV infection is now more common than oral cancer from tobacco use, which remains the leading cause of such cancers in the rest of the world.
Researchers have found a 225-percent increase in oral cancer cases in the United States from 1974 to 2007, mainly among white men, said Maura Gillison of Ohio State and we do not know the answer as to why.”University. “The rise in oral cancer in the US is predominantly among young white males
It is obvious that the only way men can acquire the HPV virus is through the oral stimulation of one’s partner’s clitoris which allows the virus to enter the mouth. The virus no doubt is harboured in the prepuce of the clitoris just as it has been found that HPV also resides in the foreskins of males, through the transmission of which cervical cancer occurs in females. Thus a hoodectomy could, by removing the part that harbours the virus, significantly reduce or eliminate the risk of women transmitting the virus to their male partners.

Actually, male circumcision done badly does ruin a mans ability to enjoy sex.

As far as females go, my friend from Egypt was about to be circumcised by her father and uncle. She fought and fought them until she was able to escape. She hid for three days. When she was found, they decided she was too difficult to bother with and left her intact. This was 40 some years ago, however. She knew very well at age 8 that this was not a fair deal. Especially being held down, no antiseptic, with a dirty kitchen knife being the "surgical instrument".

Muslims do not practice female circumcision. It is solely muslim males that are subject to it.

Islamic law is well-defined through a tradition of jurisprudence. The sources of that law are, in order of importance: the Qur'an which is the Muslim scripture, the practice of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his community (passed on through traditions called hadîth, consensus (which may be census of the scholars or of the entire community--a point of controversy) and ijtihâd or the individual efforts of scholars to attain understanding of the sharî`ah (i.e., the Divine Law) through various tools.

Although there is no reference to circumcision at all in the Qur'an, there is a well-established tradition of male circumcision in Islam as a "sunnah" act (i.e., one following the practice of the Prophet and his companions). There is no mandate at all for female circumcision, however. Although female circumcision is not mandated, one tradition of disputed authenticity permits (but does not encourage) the removal of a minuscule segment of skin from the female prepuce, provided no harm is done. Permitting such a ritual constitutes an act of tolerance by Islamic law for PRE-ISLAMIC practices, and may be overruled by the Islamic prohibition against harmful acts. Consider, for example, that Islamic law protects a woman's right to sexual enjoyment, as demonstrated by the fact that a woman has the right to divorce on the grounds that her husband does not provide sexual satisfaction. It follows that Islamic law prohibits clitorodectomy (partial or complete) or infibulation, or any genital mutilation which impairs the woman's ability to enjoy sexual relations.

People often confuse traditions rooted in local culture with religious requirements.
