Nope, not even close. The GI bill took care of my books and supplies (McDonald's) for a month. I got a huge increase after I came back from Iraq but It didn't mean much because I had only 2 classes left to graduate with my BA in Business Mgmt last year. Its not all bad. I saved up a few payments my junior year a bought a computer, so its worth while. Just remember , that if they over pay you you will have to pay them back. They sent me a bill out while I was in Iraq , when they thought I graduated. After 14 months it took sometime for me to get it off my credit report.

I am currently in school on the GI Bill with the Navy college fund "kicker." I have to take out loans as well to meet tuition needs, but the stipend is about $1700/mo. i wish I had added to the GI Bill when I had the chance, but I didn't.

I attended college and recieved my AAS degree. It cost me nothing at all. I also recieved support money, for my dependants while attending.....This was in 1975, and the GI Bill is now the Montgomery Bill.
My son got his BS on the Montgomery Bill and put out nothing or was re-imbursed

Didn't have to pay anything to receive it. You get an allotment every month you are in school, but for me it was not enough to live on and was basically supplemental income. If you live at home with your parents and use it then you can fully support your college expenses, but if you are living on your own it is not enough.

If you get your BA or BS while you are in the military, you have enough money to pay for a Masters and a PHD...if you just get a AA while in you will have enough to pay for your BS or BA and Masters...if you did nothing while in you will have enough to pay for your BA or BS...but the military pays 100% while you are in so it helps...I did not have to pay any money out of pocket, I actually made money...
