Brents right. Magic and Larry had teammates backing them up and helping them out. One could not say it was purely Byrd or Johnson themselves that won the games they played against each other. It was either the Celtics or a Lakers, not Byrd or Johnson.
Ali and Frazier left their hearts and souls in the ring each of the three times that they fought against each other. Men that give so much of themselves know each other better than anyone will ever know them. They fought three minutes of every round that they were in the ring with each other.
It was just Ali and Frazier, there weren't other guys to come in to relieve them. There weren't timeouts whenever the fight switched in the other guys favor only one minute rest between rounds. The fighters couldn't hand the gloves to someone to punch when they got tired of punching.
Ali Frazier will always be the greatest rivalry in professional sports.

I agree. The rivalry of Frazier- Ali has no comparison any where in sports. There is nothing really close to what those three fights meant.
