I want a free photo editing program that will allow me to make pictures black and white, and then keep certain colors, like a black and white photo keeping the flowers red. Also, if you know of a program like that, can you tell me how to do the pics like that? Thanks.. Have a peachy day

That effect cannot be done at the click of a button, but it is fairly easy to do.

Simply put, in Photoshop or a similar program (Paint.NET or GIMP), you open a photo, make a copy of the background layer, press Ctrl + Shift + U to get rid of all the colours on the top layer, then use the erase tool and go over the bits you want to re-colour.

There is also a more professional way of doing this, which is described here:

The advantage of the above method is that you don't have to click undo every time you make a mistake, all you have to do is paint over the mistake in white, and it will turn black and white again.

As for the free image editing programs, here are the best two I know of:

Hope that answers your questions.

Um I almost positive that Kodax easyshare is a free photo editing shop cause I have that kind of camera and I can change the color of the original easily. 1) GIMP for Windows
GIMP is a popular open-source image editor originally developed for Unix/Linux. Often lauded as the "free Photoshop," it does have an interface and features similar to Photoshop. Because it's volunteer-developed beta software, stability and frequency of updates could be an issue; however, many happy users report using GIMP for Windows without significant problems.
If Kodax dosn't work this site is a free one.

Try PaintdotNet and The Gimp.

http://www.gimp.org - Like Photoshop 7

Basically it involves decreasing the saturation, then selecting the area you want to colour, and using one of the colouring tools.
We can't tell you how because we can't post pictures. So look out for the tutorials and manuals online or at Amazon, or in bookshops.

You need to make two layers of the photo, and select either the lasso tool, the box tool, or the magic wand, and select the area that you want black and white, and then desaturate the photo.

Microsoft Office has one, and there is also GIMP, if your digital camera came with software you should be able to do that stuff on there too!
