Because if you gonna be in the spotlight.... you have to
be perfect. You can't be doing drugs. Look at Britney Spears,
going in and out of Rehab and her drinking problem...
We don't wanna see that. That is depressing. Why
she marry and then divorce several times...
We want her to go away... and stop trashing herself in
front of children. Janet Jackson needs to go away... she's a tramp.
Everybody loves and will look up to someone who is perfect...
no DUI, no anorexic, no negative image...
We want a Superstar who is a perfect role model....

I personally don't hate celebs or rich people. SOMEONE will always be richer or more famous than me, even if I'm rich and famous.
I detest any American celebrity who speaks out against my country, though, especially overseas. America is one of the most generous nations on earth and has earned the respect of the world. Anyone who says otherwise is delusional, especially our own people. Both our government and our citizens privately give more aid around the world than anyone else, and America is almost always the first to respond in a big way in any natural disaster.
We have also freed literally hundreds of millions of people from oppressive dictators beginning with WW II and continuing to this day with Afghanistan and Iraq. We have always returned to the citizens of the people we rescue a government of the people strong enough to survive on their own.
I can give a pass to Europeans who think they need to bite the hand that fed them, but not our own people.

I think there are many reasons we dont like celebrities.
1. Sometimes they get to where they are becoming rich and famous with no talent. (Ashlee Simpson, Paris Hilton, Nicole Ricci)
2. They lead immoral lives are are proud of it.
3. Jealousy.
4. People get to know them without meeting them by reading about them and watching them so much so that they form a fake bond with them. And when they dont fullfill our expectations or what have you, you feel resentment towards them.

I don't endulged in the life of the celebraties.
If you look hard enough, EVERYONE has skeletons in their closets,
But the celebraties are under a microscope in teh media.
There are a few of them though, that really should just fade away,
like Brittany Spears, and Pars Hilton. They aren't doning themselves any favors, and they really don't TRY to get any good publicity. How can i respect someone that doesn't respect themselves.

I wouldn't go so far as to hate a celebrity, as much as hating what they say and do outside of their profession or expertise.
For those that do, it could be that so many celebrities participate in self-congratulatory events like the Oscars, Emmys and Grammys. (As if the money and fame isn't enough for them to believe how great they are?)
Could it be that we pay good money for their movies, shows, and albums, but they decide that their celebrity allows them to also tell us who to vote for, or how to live?
I think Laura Ingraham had the right idea in her book as far as advice to the famous. "Shut Up and Sing!"

The same thing why people love celebs, they don't even know them. You don't have to defend them, they know it's the risk being famous, some people will like you some will hate you.
